Is there a simple way to turn off C.D. ? I have a gravel pad and do a 90* turn at the end where I park. When backing out, the high torque in reverse combined with C.D. cause the from tires to dig in and trench the gravel .

1) I don't think there's a way of easily turning CD off. At least, I've never seen anything that will turn it off on my 2008 KSDP. But maybe there's a fuse that can be pulled.

2) I really don't think it would make any difference for your situation. I don't see how CD is going to change tire angles or weight distribution or side-traction -- or anything relating to digging into gravel.

1) As described in the tour of the CD, which can be found in the IRV2 files by following the sticky at the top of the forum, the CD only controls the amount of torque you feel in the steering wheel. It cannot change anything at the roadwheels. If you are digging ruts in the gravel when turning, turning the CD off will not affect that in any way. All it will do is make you work harder to get it to turn.

Questions 24, 25, and 26 in the Q&A part of the tour address how to turn it off if you really need to prove it to yourself.

CD auto centers the wheels . This is where the digging in happens. I have to be rolling to allow wheels to straighten. At times ,while backing up , it would be easier to not have this function working.
All that said, I love CD and thanks (again)for the in-depth download of its history and operation.
