Our front overhead Viewsonic tv fried and I'm wondering if anyone has had any luck finding a best fit option to fill the hole. this is the 1st generation lcd with a wide frame around screen. Also how was new tv modified to fit hanging bracket?

Just put a 40 inch Samsung smart tv in our 2007. Fills up the entire space leaving a small original cabinet reveal all around the tv. Looks great. Relocated the radio speakers to " aim" at the windshield.. these cheap speakers even sound better.

Did your 07 have the ols tube tv? How did you secure it? I'm planning a 40" Samsung but it would sit outside the opening against the centre overhead box it was installed in. My problem would be the new tv is about 2-3" away from the old mounting brackets that are welded inside.

Don't know exactly how it is fastened. Work was done by a local one man / mobile tech. He mounted the tv on the outside of the caninet by building new mounting inside the box that used to hold the old tube type tv. The edge of the tv sits just the thickness of the tv edge, sbout one inch, outside of the cabinet surface. He put a rubber gasket between the tv and csbinet surface so no rattles. Just not sure how he mounted it inside the cabinet. Can you put a shim or block between the existing mounting brackets and the new tv to take up the space? Long bolts? Use an appropriate sized pipe as a washer?
