Periodically, the wall plugs to the microwave and coffee maker, and whatever may be plugged in, power is lost momentarily and then comes back on. I have checked breakers, they are okay.

Usually an intermittant problem as you describe is an indication of a loose wire connection or a faulty GFI. Trip the breaker that feeds the receptables in question and check each connection.

A lot of those loose screws are actually push type wire connections that need to be reinserted,vibration just shake them loose, or even better yet replace with the screw type outlets.
