The jack rams might just need a really good cleaning. Extend them, then spray them down with WD40 and wipe them down really good. Any residue will be a dirt magnet. Might want to do this a couple times. I've even used a Q-tip to get up inside at the top of the ram. WD40 now makes a dry lube you might want to give a try after cleaning. The tail light problem might be no more than a ground problem since it's been sitting for awhile and might have some corrosion.

First off - congrats on your "new to you" motor home.
My 2002 the jacks go down and work as designed. They too were a little slow to store in the up position.
Finally one of the springs broke. I had the springs changes all around and now the jacks store much quicker.......
Just something to consider.
All the best to you guys and wish you many happy trips and memories.

Welcome to iRV2. and the Newmar family.
In the years our coaches were produced Newmar used the Dutch Star name plate on both gas and diesel pushers so if your asking chassis questions be sure to include that info.
I'll assume your levelers are HWH and here are some pdfs about those.
You'll have to remove the whole lamp assembly from the coach and check that the ground wiring hasn't come off the rear of the lamp , I've had to repair two of those on my coach.
If you could take a few mins and fill out a "Signature line " by clicking " Quick Links" in the blue bar under your welcome message, and the " Edit Signature" type in your coach info , and click"Save " at the bottom of the page , your info will automatically appear below your posts as mine does below this one; and you won't have to type it in when you ask questions.

Interesting attachments. Where do you guys find these bulletins? I see that when the temps are above 60 it could take around 4 minutes to stow my jacks, and below 60 it might take 7 minutes. Always thought mine seemed slow but after reading that info they are probably working fine, I just need patience.

I downloaded these two from the HWH web site while looking for a service manual for a friends leveling system. Many others, here in the forums, have these , you just have to poke around enough and grab them when you can.

Our last Dutch Star we ordered in '02. Kept it for 13 years. During that time I regularly left the front wheels suspended while stored for over 6 months at a time.
Not once did they need cleaning nor lubing.
And yes
Newmar said it was OK
Reyco-Granning said it was OK
Spartan said it was OK
KONI said it was OK

Whenever I stumble upon a document that pertains to my coach, I instantly download it to a folder. Often I also print and put it in a binder.

Hi Greenlee99,
Do what others have posted on the jack retract question. An additional item to consider is the jack springs. If the coil part of the spring is straight to the hook part of the spring the springs might need to be replaced. The current version spring is where the coil part of the spring is tapered the last couples of inches to the hook part of the spring.

You may also want to check the jacks fluid level.

Thanks for all the help. My Dutch star is a f53 ford model. Been working through the different issues and have made it through most of them. Fluid level on jacks seems good. They're working better with more use. Think spring may help .they seem to move over time and hear bangs from time to time. Don't see leaks anywhere?

My light issue think is in steering column and as I use it the lights are working better each time. Unit sat for a period of time and a lot of thing's are a matter of getting it moving again

Point of education!
Since jacks use hydraulic fluid, do they pull from the main #46 hydraulic tank, or do they have their own tank?
Obviously for a diesel MH!
