1999 Freightliner Coolant Surge Tank

Anyone know what the replacement part number is for Coolant reservor?
Mine just developed a crack around the filler cap.
Thanks

Suggest you call Freightliner Custom Chassis at 800-385-4357. They will give you the correct part number based on your VIN. We replaced the tank twice on our 2001 DSDP. By the time it cracked again they had engineered a replacement tank made of metal. The new tank uses the existing bracket and comes with instructions or it did back in 2013.

Surge Tank

I have a 2000 DSDP and when I bought it the surge tank that made of plastic was starting to crack and basically disintegrating. I called Freightliner and they told me that the part been disconnected. They told me that they knew where on was but it would cost was about $40. Long story short, I found a new one on ebay that required a little modification. It looks great and is made of a better material. I'll attach a picture of it tomorrow.

I just found the one I bought. It was for a 2000 Freightliner. The ebay description is: Freightliner 2001-2007 Front Coolant Reservoir Bottle Tank & Cap Dorman 603-5201.
Its a Dorman Part so if you can't find it in ebay search Dorman for 1999 freightliner

If you can't find it go to google and type in 1999 freightliner coolant tank then click on images and try to find it, they have many. Good luck!

Coolant Reservoir Dorman 603-5201

I just ordered one through Ebay for 65.92
Do you remember what mounting adjustments and or changes you had to make for a proper fit?
Did the sensor and hoses interchange properly?
Thanks for all your help.

Those Dorman tanks are listed as being for Freightliner Century class. Could they be modified to work on a 2004 Freightliner XCR side radiator chassis?

Tank

On the one I ordered, I had to reroute the 1.5 water hose (used same hose) a little and use longer bolts for the steel hanger bands. It came with the sensor which looked like the same and I used it , It had same electrical plug on it. It also came with a new pressure cap.
