Our Hot water is not working, we get about a gal of Luke warm water. I've checked the operator manual for the RV to see if our heater is electric and Gas but it looks to be Gas only. When the black switch on the wall is switched on, the flame lights on the HW heater. After 30 minutes, the hot water is Luke warm and about a gallon then cold, the system worked fine on our trip to Pensacola but after we got home we discovered this problem? Are there any valves I'm not aware of that I need to check? What is the normal amount oh hot water to expect from the Dutch Star? Thanks for your help...

Just a guess, but is it possible that the bypass valve got turned? We had the same symptoms this spring, and someone finally told me to check the bypass valve. I found it, turned it, and we've had hot water ever since.

10-15 minutes is sufficient to heat the water in our 10 gal heater (even at 30-50F) and provide two showers. As kb0zke pointed out you may have a bypass issue....the valve used for flushing/winterizing. If you can access the rear of your water heater through a cabinet Newmar usually puts valve position illustrations near the valves for both flush and normal use. If not available send a photo of the valves and someone here will either provide an illustration or further info.

I have a 1997 Dutch Star and the heater is under the the cabinet in the bathroom. The by-pass valve is located in there also

Just a note, others with a poor hot water volume, have traced the problem to an out side shower, taps turned on and shut off at the shower head, allowing cold water to cross feed into the hot system.
Good luck.
