Tom, my Newmar Service technician, came by this morning to pick up the coach, and showed me a package of clamp-on springs for the wipers. They looked quite similar to the ones they put on Dirk's DSDP. Tom said they had talked to just about everyone at Newmar about this, and this was their best recommendation. I caved in and said ok.

I told Tom that whatever they did to fix my ice maker yesterday did not work. He said they have a Dometic technician on-site, and he would have him come take a look today.

My Dutch Star showed up this afternoon at 2:30. Nobody talked to me about anything, and the only thing inside the coach was a sheet saying have it ready to go back into service at 6:00 AM tomorrow. They did not install the springs on the wipers, and it looks like the ice maker is still on the fritz.

Doc showed back up here at Camp Newmar and is parked next to me. His refrigerator is still not working. He left here on Monday, thinking that the refrig. was working again.

Haven't heard that one before. Any details?

Hi PhotoTex - I'm in site 21 - have been here one week now and looks like I'll be here at least until Friday. I too have had wiper issues, but not the same as you. My passenger side wiper arm was loose, and as the motor tried to move the arm on the loose splines, it wiped both the shaft & arm splines slick. Naturally this happens in the pouring rain!

I'll look you up tomorrow.

Mark

Mark, sorry I missed you, but Newmar finished with our unit right after lunch and we hit the road headed to Wyoming. I spoke with Sheila yesterday. Sorry you had to return.

And sorry about your wiper problems. At least I was able to slow down to 50 and they sort of worked. It turns out that the clamp-on springs did not fit my wipers, so they didn't put them on. They did remove a clamp inside the wiper arm that holds the spring, and shortened it before reinstalling everything. They hope that will tighten up the spring inside the wiper arm. Time, and rain, will tell if it does any good. I sort of doubt that it will. Tom said that everyone who needs to know at Newmar is aware of these continuing wiper problems, but he does not know what is going to come.

I am really happy with the work, service, attitude, good manners, and professionalism that everyone I dealt with on the service team at Newmar exhibited. I just wish the other RV service facilities I have frequented would follow their example. I am a totally satisfied customer.

Daryl, the folks at Newmar stopped allowing the tour participants access to the paint shop several months ago, so if your coach is sequestered in the paint shop no one other than Newmar will have access to it...

Hi Bob,
Would that include me if I were to come to factory? I've been trying to get to the factory to see my last 3 being built and it looks as if I missed another.
Thanks for the reply,
Daryl

Daryl, I do know they've allowed several purchasers to walk along the line as in the tour to watch their unit being built, but there's no provision for walking along as an all day affair.
I was told the paint shop issue was more safety related than anything else.

Daryl, I saw quite a few units each day, including MADP's, roaring out of the production building and heading to paint, then back again. We saw multiple MADP's on the tour being worked on. Sorry, but I didn't know about yours, so I did not ask.

Hi! Daryl's unit is probably over in the clear coat sanding area by now. That building is near high line. Paul

Drove through several patches of rain yesterday. The windshield wipers worked great! Even at 70 mph! The driver's side wiper still floats off the windshield a little, but only at the extreme edge of its motion where the windshield starts curving sharply. Thank you, Tom, and Newmar Service! (I've got my fingers crossed that it stays that way from now on.)
