20,500 5speed vs 22,000 6 speed Newmar Baystar

Hi,

Can anyone who has driven both can compare there drive and handling?

I ask as looking ar Baystars, I could afford to purchase a 2010-2013 next year, but it would be 3 years before being able to afford a 2016.

Current coach is 4speed 2005 35ft Damon class A with a 5 star tune, Chf and steering stabiliser.

Would it be worth waiting to afford a 2016?

Thanks,

Bay Star went to the 22000 GVWR Chassis and larger 22.5 inch wheels for 2015, with the Bay Star Sport staying at 20500 GVWR. 2014 and earlier Bay Stars have 19.5 inch wheels. You would have to wait until 2016 to get the 6 speed transmission. When I was looking I noticed that the interior finish and upholstery was upgraded on the 2016 Baystar. Depends on your budget, but I think that if you could hold out for at least the 2015 model that it would be worth the difference. Even more difference if you could swing a 2016. But all are fine coaches, and you would enjoy any of them. With the exception of a few short test drives, all of my driving experience is with the 6 speed. I can't speak to the driving differences except to say that the 6 speed does really well getting me up to Interstate speeds on the approach ramps.

Thanks for reply Brews, if I was going to wait forr a 2015 I would just borrrow extra cash and get a 2016.

I have seen soms 2010's on 20500 chassis for less than 50k.

The 6-speed transmission is a significant improvement over the 5-speed. Also, most of the manufacturers raised the floors in 2016 to provide a passthu storage area. Not tall but useful.

Thanks Dale,

I did not know about the raised floors.
