Recently purchased an immaculate 2000 D.S. with only 26K miles but backup warning horn does not work when backing or gearshift in reverse. Do not know where it is located on coach therefore I can't fix it. Anyone know I would appreciate the help. Thanks.

I have an 04 DSDP and mine is between the engine and the rear of the coach. Down low on some framing. The first thing I did on mine was to unhook it. On private vehicle I don't believe they are required. Parked near a guy this summer that took several runs at a backin site with his horn beeping the whole time. You could hear him all over the campground. If you get to a spot late some night and have to back in, you (and your neighbors) might be glad yours doesn't work. I drive charter buses and I do want it to work on them.

Mercerc44, Has it right. It is probably located, to the right of center on the inside of what would be the rear bumper support. It may very well be disconnected as mine is, and therefore only requires to be plugged in.
Sorry I missed you in RiverBend last time Chuck. Hope we can meet up soon.

Dogjaw, welcome to iRV2.
I've closed your other topic so that all replies are in this one thread where it's easier for all to follow.

Welcome to the list!!
As others have mentioned, I would recommend you leave it as is. Not many motorhomes have a backup alarm, and those that do sure can be irritating in campgrounds!!

To all you guys that replied about this problem, thanks I really appreciate it. I will continue to post on this site and others. It may be that I leave this thing unhooked but as of now I want to hear it work and then I will decide..I hate to have anything not working as it should. Again, thanks for the welcome to the forum and the help, it is really appreciated...

Found the connectors for the backup warning. Hooked up to make sure it worked and then unhooked it again...Really annoying...See what you guys mean....Thanks again to all who replied.

Actually, dogjaw, it would be nice to have the connection controlled by a switch at the driver's position. That way, if in a busy people area where it might help alert them, one could arm it. For backing into your drive at home, shut it off.
Welcome to the forum.

Hi! We had that with our MADP. We will add it to our new coach. We would leave the alarm on when in public places, turn it off for late night arrivals. Paul
