2001 Mnt Aire hood release

Hello all, I'm a new owner of a 2001 Mountain Aire V 10. Nice unit, but has lots of nusense issue mostly just neglect. The passenger side hood latch is missing. The release cable and drivers side latch is all intact. I'm sure someone just removed it because they couldn't get it adjusted right. Can someone post or send me a photo of what the installation should look like. I'm sure I can fix it once I know what it should look like. Thanks

Welcome to the forum & irv2.
Here is a Brochure with tank sizes, weights, options and Owners Guide for 2001.
Congratulations on your new Newmar many safe happy miles for you.
Have always had hood release on drivers side of dash.
The release cable is so long and unattached to anything that it flex's when pulled and will not release the latch lock.
I found it was easier to reach up with fingers in general latch area feel for the wire part of cable release and hook finger and pull wire to operate release latch.
It helps to lube the release latch which will make easier for release.
Have done the same for 3 Newmars.

It sounds like the gasers and diesels have the same issue. On my KSDP 2005 and my 99MADP I extended the arm at the latch for more leverage. It takes about 2", makes it much easier to to use.

Thanks for the replies but maybe I didn't explain it well. What I'm missing is the hood latch itself, outside under the hood. So the passenger side is not held down. yeah the cable is long and really hard pull which is why I think the Previous Owner just unbolted it. Not too smart. Picture anyone?

Maybe also is why Newmar has only a center locking latch as of 2003.
Is it possible to find the same latch you have a double up pull wire to release it with the one you have on drivers side.
Hood release latch.
