I recently purchased a 2002 Dutch Star(gas) that has only 1 roof A/C. Is this normal for this size coach? The previous owner was told that was all that was needed when he ordered the unit. Does Newmar put a larger A/C in when they install just one? It seems to be doing okay, but I haven't been in really hot weather yet. Do any of the Newmar owners have any thing similar to this?

We did not go to two AC until the coach length exceeded 34 feet. IMHO that seems to be standard. How long is yours.

tmitchell, one air conditioner is standard, two is optional, and no they( the factory ) don't put a larger capacity air conditioner on when you only order one,one may not do the job of cooling the coach down because it is probably centered on the roof so that it can try to cool both front, middle and rear of the coach.

My coach is 34 1/2', with 2 slides. I park it next to my house and plug it in to a 30 amp box, with the A/C set at 81 degs., to keep it cool and dry. I have foil insullation in all the windows and thick pieces of foam in the vent and shower bubble. In the summer I'll bring along the insullation pieces just in case.

I Purchased a 2001 Dutch Star 3368 in jan 07 which has two combination air and heat pumps in it. I didn't get the build sheet with it so I do not no if they are stock or and option.I think you will be fine with one as long as you don't spend extended time in direct sun at above 85 degrees. Summer in Florida or the south west may be a close call.
