2003 KDSP ceiling ductwork replace
I purchased my 2003 KDSP 3705 USED 2 years ago. I just discovered that the ceiling ductwork has holes eaten through it everywhere. I ran a camera through the ducts and they are bad. is there anyway to fix these or replace them. Or is there somewhere I can have them repaired.. We have seen no sign of mice since we have owned it. When not in use I keep mouse hotels around. (I don't want them to be uncomfortable) thanks for any help.. I really enjoy this forum and thanks to everyone for sharing. We are going full time for a couple of years.

Keith you may want to contact Newmar repair center the ducts are strung through the roof supports and replacing them would require the ceiling or roof lifted.
If it was caused by mice they also have holes through the insulation in ceiling also which would probably defeat what ever you could do to patch the holes in duct work.
First time for this, wiring problems I have hear of.

Keith,
For more information about your ceiling ducts look at this Newmar document. It has pictures of a roof duct system being installed.
X2 call Newmar!
Good Luck.

Thanks for your advice and I see how they are placed. I have been able to fill the mouse holes with fiberglass batt. I reached in by hand from each ceiling vent and stuffed it in till it felt full.. I was also able to put a shop vac hose through everywhere but the area in the front unit. I patched the holes with pieces of water heater blanket coated with liquid nails. Now that I know that it might be impossible to replace the ducts I think if I removed the air units I could fix the area that has been eaten away between the intake and air out. Im thinking I could pay someone to do that as I would not be able to handle the AC units. I checked with my camera and my patches have held for 6 months now. I was hoping for something better !!
Thanks Again

Okay...here goes. I am just a guy that is ignorant about HVAC..but I have a thought am just going to put it out there.
Why can't you run an inner liner inside the duct work. They do that sort of thing with water lines around here when tree roots invade the pipe. It is sort of like that procedure when they put a balloon in your arteries to strengthen them...btw...I am not a surgeon either.
Feel free to flame my idea. Just thinking outside of the box.
Happy Independence Day everyone!

I think that is an excellent idea. I have been thinking about that too. I was wondering what material I could find that would take the shape and stay. It seems like my patch idea is working but the difficulty is fixing the duct work under the AC units. If I could get the AC units off I think I could rebuild that area with the stuff I was using. I have an inspection camera with a 5 foot extension and I can see all the wiring and none of it seems to have the insulation eaten off. There was some under the light in the back but only about a foot. I replaced the wire and all is good ( solder and heat shrink no wire nuts ) I would also be willing to pay someone if there was a way to fix it correctly.

If your able to reach the holes in ducts and patch as you are even strips of foam glued to the surface of duct would work and is flexible to get into duct and use something flexible to push it, foam strips against the duct walls.
If you pull the AC's for access you will need new foam gaskets as the PDF says and it also has instructions for proper torque of bolts.
Not sure what wires your talking about unless AC wiring.
Just hope there are no more mice in ceiling to start the problem all over again, I used the wire spring traps through out the coach to keep them under control.
