My wife and I just went on our first trip. Everything worked fine except the separate Ice Maker. It got plenty cold but no ice cubes ever came out. I noticed a metal guard, is that suppose to be moved into a different position or am I missing something else?

What brand and model is your fridge? Have you checked the water supply for a shut off valve? Mine was hidden behind a kitchen drawer , 1/2 way to the sink.

Just to clarify, it is a separate Ice Maker not far from the fridge. I am out of town at the moment, but will check when I get home. You might have identified the problem and I will let you know. Thanks

If it's like mine, the metal guard you speak of looks like a wire? Pull the wire down to activate the solenoid allowing water to flow into the cube chamber.
When the bin is full, the ice will raise the wire to shut off further water flow.
You can manually raise the wire to shut off the ice as we do in the evening so the clunking of ice does not disturb us.
I usually empty the left over ice on moving day into the toilet to allow it to slosh around while driving.
One more comment, if you are winterizing, don't forget to run Anti freeze through the ice maker. PM me if you require assistance.

It may or may not have an inline filter. Also if it is winterized make sure you do not winterize the filter.

Is this a U-Line ice maker? if so, there is probably a needle valve in the water line to the ice maker that needs to be opened. Find the water line leaving the back of the ice maker and follow it back to the where it connects to the main water supply, that is where the valve should be. In my 2004 DS it is under the kitchen sink and connects to the cold water supply to the sink faucet.
