2005 Factory Installed Satellite Question

I did a search for this question but came up with a lot of random things that didn't help me too much. School me please. How do I make this thing work. I have never even had dish network or any other satellite service anywhere.

Everything in my tech cabinet is original thus far. I have already been convinced to leave the tv/sat switch box in place. I know where to switch the dish power on and which position to put the switch box into, beyond that. I am a complete satellite neophyte.

I am assuming that I need find a provider. What else is needed? Oh, and BTW I don't have a manual for the equipment as it didn't come with the coach. At this point I am not sure if it would help me understand the thing.

...you first need to find out what satellite provider (Dish or DTV) the equipment is for, then contact that service provider to activate your account.

Good Luck

Charlie, I'm glad you asked the question because I'm in the same shape as you. The equipment on our '01 is obsolete and no longer supported.

When I called the manufacture they laughed and said I had a 15 year old "computer" and to go buy a new one. I have not done that yet so I'll tag along and see what I can learn from your experience.

It's DTV with a dome on the roof.

I've an idea, I will be removing the unit from the roof and repairing holes, but who knows, someone may know what we can do with them other than using them as anchors.

You won't be able to get a HD signal from directv with that unit. You may be able to call KVH and be able to preform a software upgrade and get dish. I don't know if you would have to change LNB or not. Also KVH might be able to tell you if you can get a Dish HD signal with the unit. I might be worth a call to KVH. If you want to have HD be prepared to route cables from your sat box to tv(s).
