Yes, that's why I say the dash switch isn't working on mine to control the map light. After the ice melts and I get a chance to go back over to the coach, I'm going to play with it some more. We got about a half inch of ice overnight and the city is about shut down.

Both lights will go off and on with the dash light switch if both lamp base switch's are left on.
There is a dash wiring diagram in this link for reference only.

Ok, went out to the coach this afternoon and rechecked the operation of the driver's map light. Mine does not work with the dash switch. The only way to turn it on is by using the switch on the base of the lamp. I wouldn't be surprised if there might be a problem with the switch on the dash. I'll probably open it up later and see whats going on. As I stated earlier, the dash lamps really won't dim either. (Although the odometer does).

I can't speak as to your light switch, but I'm guessing that by turning the light switch, you are turning an internal variable rheostat that is designed to vary the voltage to the dash lights, and at the end position, to turn map lights on/off. In the past, I have used a spray can of electrical contact cleaner to clean inoperative variable rheostats with success. Not sure where to buy electrical contact cleaner anymore with so many Radio Shacks closing.

Autozone carries it as well.
