2006 Mountain Aire changes

Has anyone heard anything about what the changes are supposed to be for the 2006 Mountain Aire Diesel Pushers?

A dealer we are in negotiations with says the '06 is going to be revamped and made more like the Northern Star (i.e. raised roof and ceilings).

Anyone else heard about this?

John & Peter, I haven't heard that from my sources, but I would be skeptical that Newmar would change the looks of the Mountain Aire to look like the Northern Star, the Mountain Aire is a step-up in my opinion from the Northern Star and if any change were to be made it would be that the Northern Star may come closer to the Mountain Aire, that being said, you never know. Ed. S

We don't know that they are necessarily changing the Mountain Aire to LOOK like the Northern Star... just that they were going to be taking some of the structural components of the Northern and applying them to the Mountain Aire.

Apparently... the Northern Star was intended to compete with the Alfa See Ya's... and it hasn't done so well. They are supposedly discontinuing the Northern Star, too.

Could of been a line of baloney from the dealer. We told them we would rather buy an '06 MADP since we are custom-ordering and our '05 would be the last of its model year while the '06s were already arriving. We didn't want to buy a rig that was already worth significantly less because it's "last year's model" as we're driving it off the lot! SO... he threw out the line of "the new '06s are going to be majorly revamped... $30-50k more expensive... Newmar's moving the MADP further upscale to close the gap between it and the Exsex and then doing the same with the Dutch Star..." YADA...YADA...YADA.

Just wanted to see if anyone else had heard the same story. Because if we order an '05 (because we think the '06s might not be what we'll like) and then the '06s aren't a major departure from the current design...

The current trend in RVs is to go taller. Tiffin did this in 2005 with the Allegro Bus and Newmar raised a few in 2004. I would expect that trend to continue. Also, the Northern Star hasn't exactly blazed any sales records. The word I heard is that it will be dropped after the 2006 model year. With the nice progression of Kountry Star, Dutch Star, and Mountain Aire in their prime diesel lines (plus with the raising of their ceilings) that would make sense to me as there really isn't any gap that it would fill.

By the way, that same rumor mill did mention that there would be significant price hikes on the Newmar line so I can believe that the '06s will run a bunch more. But I would still wait for the new ones myself because Newmar always tends to offer something new every year that you might wish you had once you bough a leftover model. I doubt that the exterior would change too much though. It's pretty tough to improve on the great looks of the MADP.
