2007 London Aire

Hi Folks,
I've been studying on the '07 and/or '08 Newmar London Aires for some time. I would love to hear your thoughts on that particular model. Did they have any problems, (other than typical) or did the ever changing market (and crash there of) at the time warrant it discontinued until recently, etc. etc.

I know they are rare, something like 16 produced total of the two years. I think they are really unique, which I gravitate to. They did have Comfort Drive I think.

Lastly, here's a crazy fun question: would any of you trade a 2014 Ellipse even up for a 2007 London Aire?? Imagine the seller agreed........ let's say KBB of Ellipse current retail value nearly matches asking price for LADP at the moment. 10,000 miles on the Ellipse, nearly 100,000 on the London Aire, but they are two entirely different animals. Anyway, that'll get ya goin' hopefully , let's hash it over think trading a nearly new Cessna for an older Lear ? If ya could would ya? It's fun to think about at the least.

Many thanks,
William.

I have also been looking/studying up on them, NADA does not care to much about the mileage on a diesel engine for retail pricing. In those years, 07 & 08, there are only a couple around the country..........
If you can get a owner of one to trade you even up..........jump on it.......his loss...... your gain.
No options selected on either one, and not sure of your model, but here is a quick look:
Ellipse - 291,500
2014 Itasca Ellipse Series M-42GD-Cummins Standard Equipment, Prices & Specs - NADAguides
07 LA - $442,450
2007 London-Aire M-4541 Spartan 600hp (*) Standard Equipment, Prices & Specs - NADAguides

The London Aire in those years came with close to 1M MRSP price..............
Like I said, if you have the chance..........I would not mess around, the owner of the London Aire might wake up before the deal is made
A 2016 Ellispe has a MRSP OF A LITTLE OVER $402K - 408K.
I have my name at the front of a list for a 08' when the owner is done with it, within a couple of years or less.
Here is one for 304k with 90k on it http://www.rvtrader.com/dealers/EZ-R...Aire-116781780

Hello Palehorse89,

My model is a 42QD full wall slide (like the Newmar 4018 floor plans).
Thanks for your post, I appreciate the info!

The Moderator of this forum during the mid-2000s had a London Aire, and his problems with it were so numerous, and it was such a nightmare, that in my opinion it helped the factory decide not to make them anymore. I would check with Newmar on the specific coach you are looking at, as they can tell you, by coach number, a pretty accurate history of repairs.

I personally know of one owner who bought a used LADP that was older than my 2006 DSDP but I don't recall the year his was. He discovered after his purchase that at the first weighing the front axle was overloaded or at least nearly so that it had a nearly useless CCC. Obviously it is possible that by 2007 this was fixed but check on that very closely.

LADBs were notoriously heavy. They also had systems on them that no other Newmar coach ever had, such as the pneumatic seals on the slides. Personally, I wouldn't go near one.

So there are other '07-'08 London Aires still on the road! Yes, seems fraught with trouble, very complex; so unique that Newmar has a difficult time helping solve problems. But...if you can get the problems worked out it's quite a coach. My suggestion would be that if you're not mechanically inclined AND up for the occasional challenge you should steer clear and find a more 'common' coach. My experience has been that even Newmar dealers don't want to work on it as they'll burn a lot of time diagnosing.

I'm "that" guy.... I had chassis #80016 and would advise you to steer clear of those coaches as others have recommended.

Looks like my "Unique Dream Coach is Shattered"

Thanks for all the advice in this thread............looks like I have to set my sights on something else
Was the one you owned really a lot of trouble and problematic all the time? What year was your London Aire?
What I like is there is not to many, Unique per say,..........
Did they all have problems, and what was the type of problems they had that make others shy from them? I am just wondering.......

That's about the same price as we paid for our Magna, but I'd have much preferred the London Aire! Seems to be equipped about the same but the storage bays aren't finished like ours (adds weight though). Even have the same toilet.

Oops, looking at the later comments, maybe I'm glad we got the Magna even though it sure hasn't been trouble free!
