2008-2009 Grand Star

My husband and I are considering purchasing a Grand Star 3752 mh to tour the country as we start full timing. We have found a 2009 diesel and a 2008 gas model, but I havenít been able to find much info about these models. Does anyone have experience with them? How noisy is the front end diesel? Are there any problems we should look for? Both are at dealerships so we donít even know if they have had one owner or more or how well they were maintained.

Thank you all in advance for your advice.

Welcome to the forum, Amy
Here is a link that will allow you to find anything on the coach's since they were built.
08 Brochure --- Owners Guide
GS models had Ford, Workhorse and a Fred diesel engine and coach was discontinued during the 08-09 RV slowdown like everything else in that time period.
The engines will all be somewhat loud but insulation blankets were added to the dog house cover for engine and some owners added more to cut down some more.
Mileage wise would say the Workhorse would get better with some modifications.
09 Brochure -- Owners Guide
If the coach was well maintained as it should the coach should give you good service not sure what floor plan your looking at which would be many members making their decision on what to buy.
The Workhorse and FL diesel would have the Allison transmission and Ford would be their truck chassis with their trans of that time because they did not come out with their first RV chassis until end 2009.
If the coach has a FWS need to see if it has the two motor drive soft ware.
Good luck in what ever you chose.

Hi Gramiam2,
Early Grand Stars had a problem with the jacks. It seems Newmar did not protect the controlling mechanism from the weather very well. Caused havoc with the control panel. Don't know if the problem was ever fixed.

Thank you for the info on the jacks, Gary. We purchased the gas unit yesterday at North Trail RV in Fort Myers, FL and they are in the process of going through and prepping it. I will add the jacks to their list of things to do. Hoping it is a sound purchase as it is our last rv.
