2008 Dutch Star 4035
Looking at upgrading my 2002 MADP to the above coach. Did this year DS have the Comfort Drive adjustment knob?
Also was Spartan still having ball joint issues on 2008?

Newmar started putting comfort drive in all their diesels in 2008 so it should have it. Sartan recalled all the units with ball joint problems so a used unit should have been repaired.

Comfort drive
Our 2008 "4354" Dutch Star did come with Comfort Drive but it is not adjustable. I believe the word I heard for it was a "static" control. Have never driven one that is adjustable but we are totally happy with the way ours drives, in winds, backing up, etc. The one you are looking at may be adjustable but ours was not....If you do get the 2008, enjoy it, we love ours.
The ball joint problem was recalled on our Spartan chassis and no problem since.

I have a 2008 Dutch Star and I have comfort drive. It is also adjustable. The knob is to the left of the steering wheel. Seems to work well.

Spartan did not recall all coaches with the ball joint issue. I think it depended on the year of the coach. Mine was not recalled (2004 DSDP) and ended up costing me about $2k for the repair.

I had to replace mine on my MA. Cost me 3500 for ball joints and new steering stabilizers

I don't have comfort steering adjust on mine. I think I read on here that some had them as an early experiment.
The front axle on the 2008 DS does not have the troublesome ball joints, it has 14,600 pound and the problem axles were 12,000 pound axles. The 14,600 rides a lot better than the 12,000 did. I have had both front axles on other Newmars.

The lack of numbers is why I thought it was a dimmer

Comfort drive
In reply to your picture Ed, I at first thought that was the comfort drive adjustment on our 2008 DS but it is a dimmer knob for the dash illumination.
