A friend of mine has a 2008 Ventana, and we were meeting at a campground this past weekend for an annual Halloween party the campground puts on each year, on the way he rounded a tight turn with a lot of traffic on Friday afternoon at about 20mph and the propane door popped open and took the side out of an oncoming car and tore the door off the Ventana and damaged the adjacent door and lip below the slide.
He is meticulous about checking everything prior to leaving and swears he double checked all the compartment doors before took off.
I had the same problem on my Am Eagle but the doors opened from the bottom up and only stuck out about 1 1/2-2ft instead of over 3 ft opening right to left. Oddly enough mine was always the propane door.

The propane door latch on my 09 Ventana was loose earlier this year. I tightened it up and it stays nice and tight now.
