Hi all,
There is a 2010 Dutch Aire (the last one made) has no chassis 12 VDC. It is a new coach, just purchased. The owner says everything has been perfect. He backed into his site. He pushed the auto level button. HWH was almost level and all 12 VDC chassis power was lost.

1. I checked the chassis batteries and they are good.

2. I checked the two large fuses in the battery compartment and they are good.

3. I checked the battery lead to the main power board in the basement compartment under the driver. There is no power at the lead marked battery.

Anybody got an idea as to what is between the chassis battery and the main battery lead on the distribution panel?

thanks,

I don't know what the problem might be but there are two places to look. One is the chassis disconnect and wiring in the engine area. Also, look at the wiring in the electric bay - the wiring in the B.I.R.D. area.

If you hold down the battery boost switch does that give 12 volts to the chassis and HWH?

Hi Norm4015,

Holding the battery boost switch does not provide 12 VDC to the chassis components. The symptom remains the same. The connections for the BIRD are tight. The components and connections in the electrical bay and the most forward basement bay under the driver are tight. There is nothing out of order visually. There is no burnt smell.

Had a friend with an 09 Essex. There was a problem with the HWH and it would trip a 150 amp breaker. On Essex they replacd the chassis disocnnect switch with the brreaker. I think they did this with all the DP. Look in the engine compartment for the breaker.

Hi John,
Thank you very much. Your suggestion was correct. 12 VDC chassis power was restored when we reset the breaker.

The long story is that the owner did this last night, with me watching. It did not work because I could not see the breaker and the new owner did not read which way was on or off. It turns out that up is off and down is on! This morning we made sure the breaker was up for off/reset and then pushed the lever down (on). All is now working. There is still the problem as to why the HWH tripped the breaker, but there is no emergency.

I guess the moral of the story is if you are helping someone, make sure you personally do the task and take time to read the label.
