2011 Ventana battery hookups

I've just replaced my chassis batteries, and missed something in the hookup. Yep, I should have made a detailed diagram. I saw the one provided with the coach on the front of the battery drawer, but it doesn't show half the wires that connect. Anyone with a 2011 ventana, can you post a photo of the chassis batteries? HELP.

2011 Newmar Ventana

I've had this Newmar for about a year now, just love it. BUT, I replaced the chassis batteries yesterday, and have gotten something mixed up.

Anyone with a 2011 can you post a photo of the chassis batteries so I can compare with mine?

I should have made a detailed diagram, but saw the one posted on the drawer front by mfgr, but it didn't cover all the other misc wires attached. I've spent 5-6 hours trying to figure out various configurations, but keep getting codes like no j1939 or no trans communication.

Please tell us more. If you provide your profile info that will help. What wires are you saying are a problem? Are they large or small? Are your batteries 12V or 6V?

I tried to get some information off the Newmar website but it is not laid out with resources as in the Winne website. The info I found was very general for the most part or had nothing to do with house batteries. I would guess that a call to the factory service support team would provide you with what you need to know.

This may sound stupid...my previous coach...Entegra Cornerstone with a K2 and 500 ISM...I started the coach once without waiting after turning the key to the on position and it came up with that same code. After a few restarts it went away.

Welcome to the forum David and irv2.
In the QT's links 1 & 2 and # 3 which are in may signature below there are links with your problem that other people also had batteries on a change out.
You need to hook up the heavy cables first than we will figure out the smaller wires next.
In this link on 12v battery systems is a good start also and this link will have 12v system wiring.
Yor batteries as to lay out on platform have to be as original layout was for odd wires to reach the new battery proper posts, positive and negative which pictures would have help as you have found out, I'm afraid.
Here is a thread found in QT's 1 & 2 with pictures of DP hookups that may help.
We have Ventana owners on forum that will help with smaller wiring.

Thanks for your input. The coach is a 2011 Ventana DP 39.6' I've scheduled someone to come tomorrow TUE to see if he can't get me straightened out. I'm so darned confused at this point -- need fresh eyes looking at it. I think I have all the big wires where they belong on the chassis batts, but there's a bundle of 3 small wires that I've tried every configuration and can't seem to find the combo that works. They seem to have something to do with the transmission controls, the ignition, and probably another to the inverter, but not sure. We'll get on the phone with Newmar then. If I could just get the coach to start and run, I'd be on my way to the local dealership. Hate to have it towed, that's just crazy money.

The paper on the quick disconnect was very helpful, and I'm going to print it out and put it in my book for reference. Nothing that detailed in any of the literature that came with the coach. Hopefully, I have some help coming tomorrow to help sort it out.

You certainly have two 12v chassis batteries. Below is the difference between wiring 6v and 12v.

Your only problem seems to be those 3 extra wires, that I assume were also connected directly to the battery. If they are color coded black and red, that would be easy, but I assume they aren't. Can you take a picture and send it in?

I am surprised that you have not had more responses from the Ventana owners. Not sure this will help, but here is a photo of the chassis battery box on a 2012 Dutch Star

Sorry I'm a few days late. I took the batteries out of my 2011 Ventana for cleaning and servicing and took pictures before disconnecting everything. I should have them somewhere. Let me know if you still need them.

That's exactly what I needed. Is it possible to show me the chassis battery hookups too? That's where I have the three extra little wires that were attached to the rearmost battery terminals. I've got all the big wires in proper place, its these three little ones that have gotten mixed up. (Or you can describe them to me if possible). The coach is in the shop now, had to have it towed (thank God for Good Sam towing) because of a communication problem with the transmission keeping it from starting. Probably something I did!
