Newmar has posted the first photos of the 2012 King Aire on Facebook.
Note that the mirrors are back in the low mount.

The high mounted mirrors were a styling and engineering mistake on all accounts and as each model gets the periodic redesign, the mirrors are returned to the low position.
I have the high mounted mirrors and dislike them immensely for the reasons mentioned in previous threads..

Different strokes, I guess. I've had both and much prefer the high mounted mirrors.

One advantage is you can't hit your head on the mounting arm.

Thanks for the links - I do have the '''stylish''' mirrors on the DSDP 2006 and do not have any problems yet but info on lower placed arms - advantages etc. make sense...... and it took Newmar all these years to change the design on a KingAir ???

The Mountain Aire/Essex/King Aire all had a generator slideout that included the entire front cap from the windshield wipers down.
That slideout was not rigid enough to mount the mirrors on.
As each model is due for it's periodic redesign, the change is made.
The '06 & '07 DSDP had the high mirrors and in '08 they were back down as the DSDP never had the entire lower front cap slide.

Your '06 like my '07 slide stops just under the wipers.
The highline slide covers the wipers all the way to the windshield.
