2012 Mountain Aire Electrical Issue

Having returned from a week in one of our state parks and surviving a torrential rain storm, I had our power knocked out. A call to Kevin at Newmar got me back on track. GFI's had tripped.

Now that we are home and back in the carport, I have lost power to the 110v outlets. According to the surge guard, I am receiving 112v to each leg. No breakers have thrown but the refer, microwave and 110v outlets are out.

Any help would be graciously appreciated. I found 2 GFI outlets, 1 in half bath and 1 in kitchen. Neither had tripped. Does anyone know of any other GFI's?

As always, thanks in advance!

Keep in mind you have 2 types of outlets; those that are powered by the inverter and those that are not.

The devices you list are on the inverter. The inverter has a transfer switch and some logic to connect/disconnect.

So, with no shore power and inverter on, what has power?

Also, the inverter control panel will tell you the charger status. If the batteries are not being charged or in float state, then your coach transfer switch is not working.

You will also have breakers on the inverter. They may be push to reset or typical flip type. They will be right on the inverter case.

When you checked the load center you reset the circuit breakers for the items you listed and you check some breakers on the inverter if the 110 outlets are off the inverter.
Important link for you.

Thanks to everyone! Cranked engine, disconnected shore power and cranked generator. All 110 outlets returned to normal status. Sounds like a transfer switch problem .?.?.?.? Went back to shore power and all 110 outlets are dead.

Does 110 power go thru inverter when generator is supplying power?

Yes, The inverter doesn't know the difference between shore and generator. They both comethrough the load center before it goes to the inverter. What does the inverter say "charging" or "inverting" when the generator is running?

Thanks again to all that posted advice. This is the best group of resource people on the internet!

Replaced the shore power side of the transfer switch and all is well! One of the things learned from this experience....reading another blog and something that has never been expressed to me is the need to turn off A/C units before changing power sources. Never have, didn"t know it was necessary. Now I will turn off A/C's before any change. Maybe that will extend the life of my transfer switch!
