Tabors,

I'm sorry to hear about your problem this really sucks.

I'm really new to this whole MH business but I've read various threads where people writing about how it takes the first year to 'work out the bugs'; I thought they were kidding - people sometimes over exeragate.

Is this really that common to have this many problems with new rigs? I know with our new houses we've always done walk-thru's and done a punch list prior to signing the papers.

Lemon laws cover cars but are they the same for motorhomes?

My biggest question is how can Newmar allow this to happen? I mean when reading all their brochures and their website they brag about quality but what Tabors is experiencing isn't quality but lack of QC, in my opinion.

Aren't these rigs tested more throughly? Is this the norm?

I'm asking because I'm just wondering, in the future, if we should look at used models rather than new

Since I have been in travel trailers or motor-homes any manufacturer, the problems will be there.
Some people say never had a problem than others have a disaster.
Should it be maybe, we are human and can make mistakes but its that way, maybe for first year.
You can look back in my old threads to find I have had some bad results with many items but was able to handle myself or Newmar went to my rescue didn't trust dealers around here..
I have been able to enjoy more than worry about what may happen next because something will rest assured.

When they launch a space shuttle all kinds of stuff goes wrong -
parts float in zero gravity
redundant systems are worked hard

It has to be the same for a coach --maybe even a bit worse

Not buying into that argument because any space item(s) are usually one of a kind and really how do you test zero-G anyway? So sure I understand NASA and can cut them slack

How long have they been making Class A motorhomes? 50+ years?

I remember it was attitudes like the above about the US automotive industry in the 1970's that launched Honda and Toyota because THOSE companies actually cared about quality.

Now when you're paying $15-20K for a car I can see some flaws to be expected but when the cost of the new coaches approaches the cost of a house, and in some cases more than that, these rigs need to be better tested and 'debugged'

Maybe I should see about going to Korea and starting a RV shop there

Tabors: Sorry for your issues, but I'm guessing by now you would agree that D_X_E RV is at least part of the problem.

In another thread here on iRV2.com we are discussing the TRW "Comfort Drive" steering system Newmar uses, and I'm wondering if your 2012 Ventana LE has "Comfort Drive" installed. ??? I'm asking because you reported having "hard pulling to the right" and I thought the TRW computer system would have prevented that from happening. THANKS, and good luck with getting your issues resolved. I hope Isaac didn't mess you up too bad down dere in T-ba-doe.

No, they are not. Most do not cover the "house" portion of a motorized RV and then only the chassis for safety defects. I almost had to go that route with Newmar as our DSDP was 50#'s overweight on the front axle when it left the factory if I filled the fuel and propane tanks.
