2014 Dutch Star Front Door Closing
Does anyone else have to slam their door to get it to close tight? If we do not slam ours just right then it will leak air as you are going down the highway. Any tips or thoughts?

In QT's # 3 there are threads covering your problem for adjustment and parts if needed.
To numerous to post all here you can select which one may apply in your situation.
Look in the section "something's do break at times" 1/2 way down link.

We're having exactly the same problem in our 2014 Ventana.
The coach just left the dealer last week. They said the adjustments were OK and it would loosen up with use.
I found it difficult to open the door from the inside if you pull the handle before releasing the deadbolt. I hope I never have to get out in a hurry.
I'm having a similar problem with a lot of the basement doors. I'm adjusting them myself so they close with a reasonable amount of effort.

kamakalama ... this pretty well sums up my status as well. I've done the "pulling door latch before deadbolt" more than once and am slowly learning to "think before I pull". If not I just have to pull in on the door at the same time I undo the dead bolt. Good news is that I was in a friends coach just like mine yesterday and his door works great ... so I know it's possible if you can just get it dialed in.

Ours has loosened up with some heavy use. They're a tight fit for sure.

As others have stated, mine started off tight, and has gotten better over time. one thing I did right away is apply a good lithium grease to the latch mechanism. I noticed an immediate improvement, that wore off. So now I apply this fairly frequently to help.
Other brands have the same issue. I was at the Tampa SuperShow today, and made a point to try several doors. All of the front doors had similar issues, the worst being the Winnebago/Itasca line.

We are at the Newmar Kountry Klub 'gathering' in Quartzsite and one of our members has the same door issue on their 2014 Dutch Star. It has been to one service center and they said they couldn't repair and have a appointment at Holland RV in the San Diego area for next week.

Have the same problem, all of the above. Newmar told me:It is normal to have to slam the door.

Like a few of the others ours has gotten better with use. I did have Newmar readjust it on our trip back to factory. It really had to be slammed when new. Ours shuts easier if I shut screen door first.

They probably make them that way to prevent rattles while driving.
Looks like most of the resistance comes from the rubber strip between the screen door and frame. I was thinking to try some rubber lubricant on it to see if that helps. Has anyone tried that already?

I had this same exact issue when we bought our 2012 DSDP. I had the dealer adjust the door and that created other problems. I then had Newmar Factory Service Center adjust the door, and they set it back to the same adjustment as it left the factory. Yes, it required a slam to get it to close. Now, with the coach two years old it takes much less effort to close the door. Popping the door, before releasing the deadbolt will always be an issue for a properly fitting door. The door seal applies force against the door to maintain integrity in the seal. Popping the door with the deadbolt closed forces the bolt against the door frame-- this is normal. After a few times I now always remember I have to unlock the dead bolt then open the door.

We have the same issue with our Ventana 4369 and we were told by a technician at the factory to never slam the door, but rather keep your hand on the outside and push it hard. We were also told that it would get easier to close but after 10 months it is still tight.
