2014 Essex

I read that Newmar was going to install the D13 Detroit in it's 2014 Essex. Any knowledge about this? Or did i miss this and this is old news?

Welcome to the forum.
In this thread is want we have so far for new 2014 coach's in Newmar lineup.
Here is another member that has ordered a 2014 ESSEX that you can follow.

If you check QT's # 3 and the 4 member DSDP orders and PDI at factory will find info that will be useful if ordering Essex thru Newmar.

There's an option for the Freightliner SL chassis with the DD13 engine. Standard is the Spartan K2 and Cummins ISM.

I think the ISM was 11 liter and the new ISX is a 12.4 or something. Be nice to have the 14 liter 600HP in it, wouldn't it?

The old ISM, which I have, was 10.8 and maxed at 500 hp.
The Small version of the ISX was first 12.9. Then they re designed that engine and it was reintroduced as the ISX13. These were both 500 hp
The original and still big Cummins power plant is the ISX15. It's currently offered in motorhomes up to 650 hp.

You'd need the K3 chassis to fit the ISX15, and if you did that, you'd pretty much have a King Aire.
