This is their Prevost fighter (sort of). Time will tell.

What are the advantages of Newmar changing the skin from fiberglass to steel on the King Aire. I assume the steel is actually aluminum? I really don't see the point. My assumption is that fiberglass is much more impact resistant vs. steel which will easily dent and crease. Is this change strictly to compete with Prevost and Newell? i also assume that the front and rear caps are still fiberglass. I need some help from those in the know. Thanks!

The 2014 brochure does not mention anything about steel or aluminum siding its still fiberglass and same with the caps.

Ken Williamson states 20 seconds into the video on the king Aire site that the coach now has a steel exterior. Also the original poster stated that the King aire has a steel skin. So im just trying to understand why they would make this change and what the benifits are

Cost for the coach, didn't see as a option so you could keep as fiberglass, that's what I would want.
The King Aire was still being laid out so nothing is final yet.

Didn't see Ken in that video but "steel" might be the exterior color?

Bullheaded.........I believe you are correct that the "Steel" Exterior I was asking about is the color. I watched the video again and then looked at the exterior color selections and that is what makes sense. I feel a little bit stupid right now!
