2015 Canyon Star 3610

Hello All

I've made a deal with a private owner for a 2015 Canyon Star 3610. I have the vin & newmar numbers. The vin number is a 2014 chassis & the newmar number is a 2015. Ok, I know chassis are bought earlier then the build and sold date. it is titled as a 2015. I'm finding conflicting info. Like the 2014 chassis reports the wheel base as 158", but the newmar info reports wheel base as 234". Appears newmar does extra work on the ford chassis. But again I cant find the info.

My question is how can I get the actual build sheet info? Will the build sheet answer my questions?

very much appreciate any help you all can give me.

Thank you.......David

2015 Canyon Star 3610

David, I have looked up the following information from the brochures : 2014 3610 234 WB, 2015 3610 234 WB and 2016 3710 242WB. The 2015 has 24k Chassis and the 2016 went to 26k Chassis. As far as your concern over the chassis VS the House year, it is the House year that determines the model year. In your built they used a left over 2014 (confirmed by the 10 position of the vin # E)on yours and at some point of production they switched to 2015 chassis, understand they would not change the wheel base from the 14 to the 15 as that would require quite a bit of change on the house to accommodate. I did see that there was a step brace recall that applied to your coach. There maybe more recalls. If I were you, I would call Newmar in the AM and provide your coach info, they can check for recalls and provide the information you seek *1 (866) 379-0613‬. You can get the owners guide and other information on com.net2 I tried to provide a link that did not work, go to Newmar’s web page, select owners at the top bar, select parts inquiry, scroll to bottom of the next page and select parts inquiry, enter coach number in the “search in catalog”
Hope this helps, good luck and welcome! Stuart W

I should have also added that sometimes RV manufactures cut and stretch the length of the frame to accommodate their specific design, this maybe why the information you found was different, I can tell you on my 2016 3710 the frame was not stretched.

Ford makes several different wheelbase lengths, and sometimes, as StuartW says Newmar needs to cut or add. On our 2008 Canyon Star they actually shortened the frame by a few inches, all done per the body builder manual Ford provides.

Yes I understand RV manufactures make chassis adjustments. It seemed logically to me if the chassis frame needed an additional 76" for the floor plan to work, another longer chassis would be in order. That said, I would also believe the additional length to be constructed in compliance with good engineering & welding practices. I've test driven the coach and to my limited experience it rides very well. The original owner has done several chassis enhancements which really smooth out the ride. It only has 16,000 miles. Its just been difficult for me trying to put the puzzle together. Thanks again for your reply......David
