2015 Dutch Star - Surge Protector

I just order 2015 Dutch Star 4369. I have a Progressive Industries Surge Protector and voltage checker hard wired into my present Allegro Bus. I was wondering if the DS already has this capability wired into transfer switch or will I have to install my old unit in DS. From looking at pics, I'm not sure there is room in the bay where the transfer switch is mounted to place the Progressive Industries unit.

Any help here would be appreciated.

No, you will need to add yours.

If you're doing factory pick up, you can arrange for them to do it. Others have paid Newmar to do it during delivery.

Doug, the power bay is tight but the PI unit will fit. I've seen a couple of 2015's with the PI installed behind the power cord reel, my dealership is installing one in my DS tomorrow.

Any estimate on the cost for dealer install?
I think in the Mods there is an excellent instruction from a surge protector install.

Probably a couple of hours of work so should be under $300. I would normally do this myself but I really don't want to mess with it on this coach so will pay to have the work done this time around.

We are still waiting on our 2015 Ventana 4037, but from my research the DS and Ventana do not come with a PSI or the like unit.

I've always preferred an external unit. I have a PSI EMS-PT50C.

Three advantages from my point of view.
1) Zero installation cost.
2) Easily moved from old to new MH.
3) Allows checking of park AC before hooking up expensive MH.

With the external unit, I can be confident that the power is OK before I subject any portion of my MH to a potential problem.

I guess the downsides of an external unit would be the very slight inconvenience of plugging it in every time and potential theft. In 40+ years of "camping" I've never had anything stolen from a campsite - law chairs, tables, grills, etc are left out all the time.
