2015 Dutchstar "Specials" Suggestions
First of all, thanks to all who participate in this forum as it has been a great source of information.
We are just finalizing an order for a 2015 Dutchstar 4018 and, like many others, want to make sure we do not miss anything.
Currently we have selected the "standard" options including floor plan with dual recliners & computer desk dinette, washer dryer, external TV, heated floor, all electric, induction cooktop etc.
The "specials" include AGM batteries, add'l 12V outlet in drivers area and an extra drawer in the pantry.
Would greatly appreciate any suggestions as to what we may want to add. After all, "he who ends the game with the most toys wins".
Thanks, Jeff

I am not sure what convection oven comes standard with this year's Dutch Star but I would opt for the GE regardless of upcharge rather than going with a Frigidaire if that is what the standard oven is.

Did you get the "polar pak" insulation option ? Is a 3rd AC an option? Maybe it would help if you listed what is an option in 2015 as it seems many things have changed

If you're in cool weather much the floor heat option would be great.
Upgrade the microwave.
Kitchen window, is the one thing we feel we messed up on.
You can also have them add the engine heater to the Oasis. You'll still have the block heater, plus the ability to use the diesel Oasis to preheat the engine.

Depending on where the coach will be stored you may wish to add solar prep for your house batteries.
Here are items we enjoy every day; kitchen window, shower assist handle, power baggage door locks, 50 amp power cord reel, chrome exterior mirrors, sliding storage tray and the undermount kitchen sink.
We were really disappointed with the original "Oshkosh" brand mattress. It quickly failed so that the only firm areas were at the edges. We kept rolling into each other. Not that that is all bad but not all the time. We replaced it locally and the deliverymen installed it and removed and disposed of the old one.
Have you considered the factory delivery option? Our PDI and orientation was about three hours long and barely adequate. Video taping the orientation, whether at the factory or dealership, has been suggested on this forum.
We also added a Progressive Industries (HW50C, I think) hardwired surge protector for the added low/high voltage, ground and neutral protection. It has already saved our appliances in a Dakota electrical storm.
We are absolutely satisfied with our Dutch Star and know you will be too!
Have fun and safe travels.

PDR_JOHN which way did you mess up on the kitchen window? I am working thru my build right now and am on the fence on the kitchen window. Negative is it takes away from the nice back splash, positive is gives a view/communications to those on the 'patio'. We had on in our 5th wheel, lost it in our current coach.
Others thoughts?

We didn't get it,. We thought it was to small and served no purpose.
When our TV is up we have no windows on the passenger side to look out of (except the half bath).
When we stepped through the door of a coach with it, we both knew right away we made a mistake. It was to late, our coach was in the paint department.
I talked other Hoots into getting the window, they're all glad they did.

Thanks all for the suggestions so far.
We have not got the polar pak or 3rd AC. They are not options but may be offered as specials, I am not sure.
We have the 5J550 All electric with induction. We did not choose the basement fridge as the residential fridge should be enough for us. We did select the EMS.
PDR John - Yes we have selected then kitchen window - thanks.
EZDZIT - Power reel, chrome mirrors, storage trays yes but we have not got the under mounted sink. Can you tell me why you like it?
We are going to do a factory delivery based on the great experience others have had. I have read that some have had the PI surge protector installed as part of the factory delivery. If anyone has donee this, can you tell me how you made those arrangements?
Did you supply the surge protector or did Newmar?
Thanks again, Jeff

Getting the basement fridge-freezer will greatly add to your coach's attractiveness to buyers later on down the road if/when you trade or sell. It is a very popular option.
You can still store non food items in it, so you are not giving up any basement storage.

The queen bed layout option is one worth considering. On the 2013 models it allowed for much larger bedside tables and also made the making up of the bed much easier.

FLSteve - yes we are getting the queen bed. We do not need the king and we like the increased size of the bedside tables as well as the easier access to the rear bath. Something else I learned on the forum, maybe from you.
