2016 Dutch Star - Broken engine cover latch

It seems like the dohickey that goes from the plastic latch down to
hold onto the metal receiver has broken. Need to examine it in the
light.
Anyone else have this problem?
Any solutions. Temporary will be bungie cords.

Sometimes the plunger gets stuck on the latch and you have to pry it back down. I use my pocket knife.

Mine started sticking, then froze up with no amount of coaxing would open. Went with bungee cord for a few days. Newmar quickly sent a replacement and it was easy to replace.

Well, I finally got it off (takes a 32mm socket .. which I did not have). Was "just" sticking, so I soaked it in a lubricant while mashing the button and digging out the catch. Did this a couple of dozen (hundreds?) of times. Replaced it on the engine cover and it "seems" to be working. I am keeping the bungee cords near at hand.
Thanks to all for the suggestions.

I had stuck open issues with this cheap plastic latch. Can't believe that Newmar would install such a lousy latch on luxury coaches.

Engine Compartment Latch

I ended up ordering two new latches from Newmar. Part #113324.
Ordered two because I have no confidence in the service life of the latch.

Unhappy

Same issue with my 2014 Ventana. Gotta say, its rather embarrassing driving a nice coach down the highway with a bungee holding your engine cover shut...
