2016 Ventana 3709 / Freightliner Maintenance Schedule
Hello everyone,
A little perplexed regarding my Ventana/Freightliner 6 month, six-thousand mile maintenance schedule.
I purchased the Ventana in April of this year and now have a little over 6K miles on it. I was looking through the Freightliner Operator's/Owner's Manual and discovered the above mentioned maintenance schedule. So here is the issue; I called multiple Newmar dealers and they had no idea what this was and once I sent them a PDF of the list (46 items in the to-do/checklist) they referred me to Freightliner. Ok, no problem with that. I contact multiple Freightliner Service Centers and none knew about the 'checklist'. Freightliner of course offered to do the service but none would quote me even an estimate on cost.
Has anyone else driving a Newmar or any coach on a Freightliner chassis checked into this 6 month/6k mile maintenance and can you help with some idea of cost?
I think I have attached a copy of the checklist from Freighliner.
Thanks

When talking to a FL dealer, have you talked to an Oasis certified dealer? They are equipped and knowledgeable about motorhomes. Make sure they use the proper filters as well. You can call Freightliner in Gaffney and they will give you manufacturer and part numbers.

There is no 6 month service. It is basically a look at all the fluid levels and top-up if necessary. The service schedules are based on the date the chassis was built and the 6 month date is usually passed before the coach leaves the factory, so just start planning for your first annual service. Call Freightliner with the last 6 digits of your VIN and they can give you your build date.

I've experienced the same puzzled looks from our local FL (Oasis) and Cummins service folks. I had to bring both of them the check list.
At 6K miles ( also 6 months) on the rig we were just getting ready to take off on a 3 month 9k mile trip. I went to the Cummins shop (FL was too backed up). They had their regular service schedule of oil, lube, and inspections. I had about 130 hours on my generator, so they serviced this too. I asked the service writer to check off the services performed on the FL service schedule.
When we returned, I had 16k miles on the coach and booked a service at FL. Same story. They have their own service schedule, and they know nothing of FL's recommended service schedule. I printed the FL 15k miles service schedule and had them check off the items serviced for my records.
You would think that the FL-Oasis service centers would be knowledgeable about the FL recommended maintenance schedule, but that is not the case. If you are near the FCCC HQ in Gafney, schedule your service there. These guys know what to do.

Havingablast, very true. We had our six month done at cummins oasis, Pacific Bakersfield. Asked the tech about the checklist. His response, been doing this so long I just do it from memory. Should have walked away then, but they were repairing our generator. Cummins "insisted" it be repaired at a cummins center.
I previously lamented on their poor service so wouldn't bore folks here. Next service, which won't be at Cummins Pacific, I plan to hand the tech the checklist and if they can't follow it and show me when I pick up the coach that they did, then my business goes elsewhere. There is a local shop that seems to do good work. Guess I will find out. IMHO having "Oasis" "Cummins Certified" or "Freightliner" in a business name doesn't matter for squat.

Thanks all
First, thanks everyone for your quick replies.
Couple of thoughts:
For the post that said there is no 6 month maintenance I guess I am surprised that they put a "6 month maintenance schedule in the Freightliners Owners manual", kind of makes you wonder.
Amazes me that with the amount of money we spend on these coaches WE need to be doing all of this chasing around for verification and awareness. Especially things like verifying filter part numbers and making sure the dealerships understand the process/checklists and do them.
I know this may be personal, but for those that have had this 6 month/6K mile service done on their coach, can you possibly provide a "ballpark range" dollar amount I might expect to pay -- $500 - $750 or greater, just not sure and don't want to be taken advantage of.
Thanks again,
Jim

Our 6mo service (at the local Cummins service facility) for lube, fluids, and filters, including the recommended 150 hour service to our Onan generator was around $600 (plus or minus $50 ... CRS strikes again 😡 .

$640. Although I am pretty sure the chasis lube and some other checklist items were not accomplished.

Thanks Again
Thanks to those that responded with a dollar amount.
After reading all the post replies and speaking to Freightliner I came to the realization that I need to look for Freightliner "Oasis" dealers when considering those to work on the coach. I have contacted one in Orlando and they seemed to know what I was talking about.
Newbie that I am, I am slowly learning about the RV life.

Trust but verify! I went to an "Oasis" center and they did not follow any checklist. I consider their service subpar at best.
Before you commit I suggest you verify that the Oasis center you are going to are willing to walk you through what they did and show you the work was done. If not, you risk what many on this board have found. That some work they paid for was not done because it is out of sight.

Thanks Again
Thanks Again everyone,
I will take the checklist with me and have them check off what they do.
There is no way to actually verify that they do everything on the checklist so I guess at some point you just have to trust that they are doing the work.
