2017 Canyon Star and flapping topper
The leading edge of the driver side slide topper has flapped in 10-15 knot wind since it was new. The topper will be replaced under warranty next month as there is now a 2'' rip at the front edge.
For some reason, passenger side topper doesn't flap even though it get's the wind directly on it.
First toppers for me. Had a 5ver with 4 slides, for 8 years, all without toppers, and never had a problem.
I know there are lots of ways to stop the flapping. My Newmar tech told me the flapping topper was installed incorrectly.
Question is this. I camp a lot in SoCal in the Winter and would have serious concern if a storm came up, esp. at night. Putting in the slides would be a royal PIA.
How much wind would prompt someone to put their slides in?
The offending topper has flapped at 10-15 knot wind. What'll happen at 30 knots?
If a topper ever gets damaged from wind, I'll be removing it permanently.
Just wondering how common this problem is. For some reason, I'm thinking this shouldn't be happening to a new topper.
