2017 Dutch Star GPS malfunctioning

So was out today on a short drive to get the coach weighed and figured I'd use the GPS in the coach to start to get used to it. Plugged in address to GPS, it calculated route, showed me distance and time, and then I was out of luck. Got message at top of screen saying "Autodetecting GPC receiver" and it would not navigate. Anyone else receive this message and if so is there a fix besides getting unit swapped out? I tried turning radio/gps off and back on but it just came back to same screen.

Because of the shielding around the unit in the dash board ( metal framework) the unit will have a GPS signal receiver in a remote location where it would not be shielded.
About the only DIY, would be to check that all wiring to the dash unit is properly seated in it's plug-ins; after that it's off to the dealer.

We had this happen one time on our first big trip. Turning it on and off made no difference and it came back after about an hour. No idea what caused it or if it will happen again. The only thing I can think of is to check the antenna connection on the back of the head unit.

Thanks, talked to Newmar today (sticker on window). Monday we are going to do conference call with Clarion to troubleshoot. Will keep you posted.

Yes, please keep me posted. One thing I'm sure of is that if nothing is found and fixed, it will happen again. The iPhone is a good backup GPS but I would like to get this fixed.

Glad to see you DutchStar folks are getting all the features we have in our 2017 Entegra's ;-)... many of the Entegra 17's have GPS issues that appear to be related to heat at the head unit. I don't think this is as common a problem in Newmar's so you may just have the rare one that needs to be replaced or a bad antenna connection.

Yea I'm guessing it's a bad antenna connection or faulty unit but we'll see. So far this is only issue we have found since taking delivery last week so I'm not complaining!

It's easy to take the head unit out and check the back for the antenna connection. I would bet that it is not properly seated or not plugged in at all. You should have a manual for the GPS/Radio that shows all the connections.

Would the manual show how to take head unit out? Just want to make sure I'm removing correctly. Any advise is appreciated.

If it is like ours, you just pry off the plastic frame, comes off easy. Then you use a Phillips screw driver, remove the 4 screws and then you just pull the unit out.

Great, thanks! I'll try it once home later and report back. As always this site is so helpful!

Well I took off face plate last night & checked antenna wire & it was snug. After our 1st trip this coming weekend I'll be bringing coach to dealer so I'll let them look into it & get it working.
