2018 Bay Star 3406

So after a false start with my original 2018 order, the DW and I regrouped and are in the process of ordering a 2018 Bay Star 3406. For those of you that have ordered a Bay Star, has anyone been successful in having Newmar build it with a recessed cooktop like in the Canyon Star as a special? I tried and it was denied but I don't know if it was the manor of the wording or if they just won't do it. But it would be nice to have that additional counterspace when not using the cooktop.

Thanks in advance,

Bill

We looked into that but never asked. I'd seen several post about the nooks and crannies being hard to clean. We decided to go with a wood stove cover once we get our unit. I do know that Newmar won't do some upgrades to keep the various lines distinct. If you could throw all the Canyon Star upgrades on a Bay Star, for instance, why would anyone order a Canyon Star? Not sure I agree but that's their stance.

Hi Bill:

What's the estimated time for your MH to arrive. I have my close eye on this one and have thought of ordering with appropriate upgrades but since this will just be for weekend fun and a few weeks per year I wasn't sure I wanted to go this high.

Also, what do others think of this. I can order the satellite dish even though I don't want it..but i am thinking about resale value. Do most Class A RVers want that or is it just as easy for someone to add later (even though my goal is to have this RV for 10+years)

Satellite prep is standard on the Bay Star. I wouldn't get it. Why pay all that money for something you won't use just so someone in the future might use...maybe. The satellite dishes are anywhere from $1200 to $2500.

IMHO, don't order stuff for resale.

JK,

I was told there was one slot left in Run 32 (mid-February). I am really hoping that the dealer and Newmar can get this moved up in the queue though.

For the most part I agree. I'm sure there are some common sense items that a future buyer may desire but unless it can't easily be added and you aren't going to use it why spend the money on it.
