How much room is there? Can a 7 or a 6 fit?

After reading through this whole thread...again...I sure hope that Newmar rectified this problem before it put our new MADP 4047 together over the past three weeks. You can bet that we'll have all of the drains checked by the dealer before we leave after picking up our coach in a couple of weeks.

Did the original bent pex show up right away or after driving for some time?

Mine had to have been plugged from the beginning, took a humid week at the beach to overflow the gutter.

Here is a picture to show the routing of the drain system

Thanks

Is the driver side the same? Have you had problems or have you looked or can you even look?

I assume then the backs go relatively straight down?

I have poured water in the drivers side and it drains, I can’t imagine it being any different then the pass side, not looking for more work so I’m not going to disassemble the drives side to look, like I say it’s draining, may it plug up easy, probably. Don’t know for sure on the rear, but it looks like they run down the rear cap pretty straight

stuart, nice work digging this out...it's pretty ridiculous, really, that they would do it this way, and not use the elbows.....it doesn't just drain roof condensation, but rain as well.....

the way mine is filling up and then slurping, it must be partially kinked....both sides in the front do it....i have not checked the rears.....

this is on my list for when i go to nappannee

[QUOTE=willipaul;4241501] this is on my list for when i go to nappannee, I think this is a good plan, it’s a lot of work and takes a fair amount of patience, and attention to not scratch things. Plus it good for a Newmar to see this stuff first hand Stuart

Hi Willipaul - I wonder if part of the issue is the horizontal section of the drain. If it has no slope or a slight uphill slope that would account for the fill and release action. Once the water level gets above the height of the transition to vertical then it siphons the water until air enters. Likely designed by the same guy who did the fresh water overflow.

it all makes sense....but if stuart's doesn't slurp now, with the elbow, then it is free flowing and can drain better....i guess......

i want it opened up and looked at....i want to see it....and like stuart said, for them to see it....i have water that sits in the cup in the roof...it can't be good for water to be sitting there all the time....and not just a little, the cup is full up and over the exit pipe fitting....its a leak waiting to happen....

I can tell you that while diagnosing mine it would hold air pressure when I tried to blow air upward. When I saw the kink, with the drain full of standing water, I pulled down on the vertical section and the water started to flow make a slurping sound. After the repair it flows freely.
