2018 DS with 360 camera mod

I made an improvement to my 360 camera system that I wanted to share with some of my Built-mates (ARD and SicDuc)along with anyone else that ordered the 360 camera system on a DS. Mine was set up to switch to the right or left when the turn signals were activated, just like the camera monitor right next to it! So this weekend I took out the screws that hold the entire radio dash area in place and pulled that part of the dash forward (I used blue masking tape all the way around the area to avoid scratch’s) resting it on my knee I was able to see the camera control unit and it’s wiring (cable tied to a bracket straight ahead). I tested the wires with a test light to find the two turn signal inputs. Once identified one orange and one brown I cut them and taped both sides up.
Now when I’m making a turn the 360 view is left on the rear view while the other monitor displays the turning side view. Makes sense right? Hope this helps Stuart

We are getting ready to finalize our order for a 2018 Mountain Aire and have been considering the PV-360 camera option. I am a bit concerned about information overload in the cockpit with two camera displays. Does disabling the turn signal input on one improve that aspect? Does the full 360 camera display really improve driver input or does it just make if more confusing?

First off the 360 camera set up they offer for the DS is not high resolution, on a MA it is a much higher quality and I would absolutely get it, make sure it is the same unit as the NA has, it will look like this picture. I love the 360 camera idea and on yours it will be High definition on a larger screen. By what I did, I now always can see behind me at the same time seeing the turn side view. Before it was two of the same images.

Interesting! I wonder if Newmar would set it up that way at the factory? I'll have to ask.

I didn't realize the system in the MA is a higher definition; thought they were all the same. Thanks for the insight.

The DS dash looks like this and has a separate back and side view system, not sure on the MA

The MA info displays look the same as the DS. Don't understand why the resolution would be different, but I'll take your word for it that they are. Having the side and rear views displayed simultaneously would be nice.

Oh then maybe I’m wrong. I would call Newmar for clarification

Does the 360 camera replace the radio and navigation?

It requires xite radio, and when on Thames over the display. You can toggle between other function displays and they work in the background

This is the one option I'm not crazy about and wish I would have saved the $2500...

Has some benefit, but not much, very poor quality picture
