The ones in the coach by default where only battery operated, using a single 9v battery. I wasn't aware that the bedroom was a co2 only detector, I had always assumed it was both.

One thing I noticed with the Nest is the option for Pathway lighting should be turned off. What seems like a small innocent light can become a search beacon in the middle of the night when all you did was turn to your side. It became such a distraction, I had to remove it from the ceiling until I could reprogram it.

When you make changes likes this to the Nest, it takes up to 24 hours for it to see the changes, so do it right the first time.

During setup, there is a question about "Pathway Lighting". It says that it turns on a soft gentle light to help illuminate the area when it detects motion.

What they don't tell you is that 1) the motion is very sensitive and 2) in the middle of the night, this "gentle" light may as well be a search beacon.

I don't recommend this for any area where you will be sleeping. Otherwise it should be fine.

I purchased my 2019 Newmar Dutch Star without the factory option for the sanicon.

The primary reason I did not have the factory install it is their setup was not ideal, and I wanted a better solution.

One of the features that Newmar includes is a solid nylon disk that is pre-fit to the hose. This disk will block the 5 inch exit hole while the system is connected to sewer. Utilizing the factory exit hole allows for the bay door to be securely closed. With the Newmar provided disc, this hole is sealed.I attempted to purchase the disc directly from Newmar, but after several months of unsuccessfully trying to even get a part number, I gave up.

I recently acquired a 3D printer, and my first design and print was cover that can be used to fill the hole.

I wanted the cover to be easily installed and removed, so I designed a slot that allows the hose to be inserted. Once the hose is installed, a small end cap is inserted that secures the openings, preventing rodents and other bugs from gaining access.

Here is some pictures that show what I came up with.

I did make a few ashtrays while learning. I'm not a smoker, so guess they will be for coins?

Thatís AWESOME!!!!

And, NOW...you can go into business selling the RebBaron discs!

OH, BTW...canít believe timing...I am, as we speak, typing my emails of disgust with Newmar stroking me along for 10 weeks as they ďwait for a part number to be generated.Ē!!! Iím beyond ticked off...a simple bracket and screws to hang a new skirt on my passenger seat...and theyíre making me wait for 10 weeks now. Unreal.

I dont know how much of a market there is for this, but it sure was fun. I have some tweaking to do until I consider it perfect

Two weeks ago I was re-reading Charlie's post (Wireless Waste Tank Valves) on the wireless wast tank valves. I was inspired to build an automation controller based on the Barker valves.

Instead of using a wireless relay, or connecting it to Alexa, I have decided to make this a dedicated system.

The beauty of this design, is it gives 100% of the look/feel of an integrated system, but retains 100% of all manual controls.

The hardware part is very simple, but to make it really shine, some custom software was required.

I spent the last week writing a front end that I am really happy with, and wanted to share it with you.

https://youtu.be/zb9BACIVsBY

The display is a 7" touch screen. It is a dedicated device in the wetbay, and shows the tank readouts and allows for valve controls.

Slave units can easily be added, either as dedicated devices, or by using a tablet/phone.

For the geeks out there, this is a PHP/Javascript implementation using a kiosk mode of chromium browser.

The hardware is a Raspberry Pi 3 B+, the raspberry screen, and a few relays.

For the tank sensor, this is a custom design that I built. Very easy to install and calibrate. Since our tanks are an odd shape, I decided to calibrate it on 5 gallon intervals. This gives a very high-accuracy readout.

To calibrate, you need to have a water meter on your shore line. I used this one: https://amzn.to/2Elk3ns

During the calibration steps, you must begin with an empty tank, and input the max capacity of the tank. Then you begin filling. Once you reach 5 gallons, you stop the fill, let it rest, and push next on the screen. Keep repeating for all 3 tanks.

Filling the black tank is best done via the tank rinse.

I will be posting more details in the near future.
