My mini van requires the battery disconnect too.
I ran wiring , to a dedicated plug in the seat base wired to the coach chassis batteries .

I did try the plug in direct to the toad battery , to isolate it from the ignition ( key on ) but in a six hour trip the toad battery was dead.
On a side note , I had to replace that battery within 8 months ; don't know if drawing it down killed it or if it was on it's way out anyway.

Hi Sam, been thinking about your need for power to your brake system. I know nothing about your vehicle, but do you have a 12 volt plug inside your vehicle that is "always on"? If so you can run your brakes off that. You always need to have a charge line to your toad to keep the battery up.
Just trying to help, I'm guessing about the configuration of your brake system and toad.

On a GM truck you need to disconnect the battery so you can leave the ignition on so the steering wheel is not locked and don't run down your battery. You will need a power wire direct from your battery to the RVI brake. They recommend a battery charger also. Call RVI with your questions, they are very helpful, we have their brake and are very satisfied. If your truck is the new version of the 2019, I hope you have the 2 speed transfer case, because the single speed transfer case is not flat towable. This was a change for 2019 new edition because they did make some 2019 "old" body style. Good Luck
