2019 Ventana new automatic slide locks, any inputs

So, we pick up Newbee2, our 2019 VTDP 4369 on 5 November [emoji16]. I know the Ventana now comes with these auto slide locks.

Does anyone have any experience with these? If so how are they working? Are there any issues to look out for? Remember, these are new for 2019, so if you have the 2018 locks then they operate differently.

Not sure why Newmar changed out their auto locks, but intend to ask at pickup.

I’m not sure they are new as opposed to newly standard on the ventana. Used to be an optional item.

They have been in dutchstar since 2013 at least. Works very well, and is the kind of thing you never have to think about.

007, thanks but the “new” locks are quite different than the old flapper style. They are now standard on Ventana. They look kind of like the old manual locks but with several additional levers on them. Wish I had taken a picture. Saw them operate at the dealer.

Ok, so if no one with a 2019 Ventana can give me any insight, I will take pictures of the locks at FPU and post here. Will try and get any tips from the tech to pass on also.

If you want to see what the new style Ventana slide locks look like, watch the Comfort RV you tube video of their 2019 Newmar Ventana 3717. They show a quick shot of the lock mechanism.

The new Ventana slide lock looks effective, but is a lot of ugly steel inside the coach. I can see already, that you'll have to be careful with the driver's and passenger's seat (if it's the same on both sides) not to wear a hole in the back of the seat.

Here's the Mount Carmel video. From about minute 5:30 to minute 6:30, they show how the new slide locks work.

The lock is basically two large metal inverted "V"'s attached to the upper part of the slide side wall and the lower portion of the slide side wall. They're connected with a piece of flat metal stock at the center of both "V"s. When the slide comes in, the lower "V" stretches wider, pulling the upper "V" down, causing it to stretch wider and lock the upper portion of the slide in place. The problem, is that flat metal stock between the two "V"'s is going to hit right in the middle of the driver's seat backrest. You'll have to make some type of protective device if you like the seat all the way back.

NEWMAR's slide lock system from

NEWMAR's FWS System by

Spring maintenance of Newmar new slide lock system.
You may want to use a milder lube that doesn't attract dirt, plus WD-40 can cause fiber wall to bubble if to much used.

Thanks for the video. Looks like there are some adjustment screws to set proper tension on the seals. Think I like this.

Good point about the seats, I’ll check during pickup.

Have the new locks on our Ventana, seem to be fine. Remind me of manual locks with activators, but seem to do the job.. Kind of hard to comment much, since no real way of telling if they work, only that we have had no issue with them.

Thanks for the input Boomer. Were you passing gas in a KC (Air Force refueling boom operator), or does boomer stand for something else?

I am curious about the adjustments of these locks. Will talk to tech next week when we pickup our new coach [emoji16]. Will post our results.

No one has every asked about boomer yet. I chose the name because a couple of us created a Fireworks shooting system to allow precision timing and choreography to music. Currently the system is used around the world, Disney, Super Bowls and one of our customers set the Guinness world record using our system..... That why the 'boomer'
