2019 VTDP radiator loss of fluid

@soundguy63's VTDP experienced loss of radiator fluid. He added 4 gallons and drove it for 2 minutes and noticed a cloud plume.

Nothing is showing a leak on the ground according to him.

Here is a video
https://youtu.be/sqvtOyA4xyk

I am thinking this is an internal engine failure. Anyone have a better idea?

Unfortunately, My first guess would be a blown head gasket or cracked block

Which engine is in his rig? I have seen a wet cylinder sleeve blow a seal. Has he checked the oil to see if it is over full, I.e. coolant in the oil.

Definitely appears to be internal.

He did check the oil and it is good.

The dpf component is full of liquid from the engine. It is draining out the bottom as shown in this picture.

He was driving for 15 minutes before an alert came on the dash saying low coolant. He pulled over and at that time there was no smoke.

He was parked for about 90 minutes before he added 4 gallons and changed the radiator cap. There was no sign of the origination of the leak. There was residual on the toad and the mud flap.

After adding 4 gallons of coolant, he drove for just a few minutes and saw the smoke behind him.

All the comments are true, blown head gasket, blown cylinder or seal, assume under warranty, get it into shop, let them fix it. Turbo also could have gone and taken something with it.

The white exhaust is a sign that it is coolant getting into the cylinders. Oil would be black. I would suggest not driving it any further and having Cummins make arrangements to get it towed to a dealer.

While it should be under warranty, continued operation of the engine could cause further damage which will add to the down time.

I would agree, contact the manufacturer and have it towed to a repair facility. This should be a warranty repair.

After that video, he did not move the coach again. Freightliner is arranging a flatbed tow this morning to take it in.

A common problem on all new diesel engines with treatment systems is the EGR cooler. I have a 2015 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel, at around 60k miles it failed and started consuming radiator coolant. It's a common and known issue with the treatment systems. Mine cost $3k and was not covered under factory or extended warranty.

Is there any possibility this coach was originally optioned for the Navy’s Blue Angels? Based on your paint scheme and smoke generator there may have been a few specials that never got deleted??
