Question 2020 New Aire Options...

I am going to upgrade to and order a 2020 New Aire in the next few months, and have been steadily reading thousands of posts on this forum. I do have a build sheet from my dealer (NIRVC in Lewisville, TX). Now going through the options on the coach and have a question about the Girard awnings options.

I really like the idea of the window awnings package, as I can see how it will really reduce the heat in the coach. But, at present, can’t see the need to spend $6783 to upgrade to the Girard Nova awning package, as I rarely use the one I have now. Granted, it doesn’t have a wind sensor, etc...

Can you give me more insight into this option?

2020 New Aire Options...

When we got the nova awnings we found them much more usable than the standard ones and thus we use them a LOT more. Just our experience but we are glad we have both the Novas and the window awning package. JMHO

PS if you are ordering I highly recommend that you order the power slide tray in the new small compartment. The tray is 13x58 and that space is much more assessable with the power tray.

I was looking to add the slide out trays, but not the powered versions; looks like you lose more height in the storage bays with the electric ones...

You are probably right. But I am 74 and don’t enjoy benson over and leaning in to operate a manual tray anymore so I opted for the power trays everywhere.

Might give some thought to resaleability. IMHO, I believe most people will want the awnings. With and without, side by side a coach will probably sit unless deeply discounted.

I have to agree. If I were in the market for a used coach, I wouldn't consider one without the nova awnings unless there was a steep discount because I'd have to go through the headache of getting some put on and painted to match the coach.

If you don't think you'll be selling it, do what you want. Otherwise, I'd say be prepared to sell for less or wait for the right buyer.

I think Newmar orders the awnings to just fit the windows to save money. However, the sun is not always perpendicular to the window pane. It seems that there are more minutes of the day when the sun is at an angle. Therefore, the smart money would buy awnings that are 6" to 12" wider than the window to maximize the amount of time the window glass is in the awning's shade.

I put 6" wider awnings on my Bay Star and am glad I did. I also spent more for a separate awning for each of 4 windows. That too was a good idea because I discovered that the manual awnings with a strap under each window could handle strong winds much better than Newmar's cheaper 2 windows under 1 awning approach.

So next time for me, I will buy after market manual awnings with matching fabric that are 12" wider than the window they are to cover.

My question is if you do *not* opt for the GIRARD POWER WINDOW AWNING PKG. (4), 1-BEDROOM, 1-KITCHEN, 2-LIVINGROOM for $4,508, do you get anything at all in place of those - like the manual versions my Ventana had where you use a hook to pull the awning down?

If you don't order the Power awnings, you will not have any window awnings.
