25% off 2019 DSDP?
I've been reaching out to a few dealers on pricing for 2019 DSDP and two have quoted prices of less than 25% off. Was surprised that the discount was so small. Wanted to ask the experts if this is the going norm.
Our current coach is paid off and would be used in the deal-not sure if that matters.
Thanks for your thoughts.

First, it is relatively early in the 2019 model year, so most dealers won't be offering big discounts. Right now, I would expect discounts would be mostly in the high teens or low 20s. As we get later into the model year...January on...I think discounts may rise a little.
Then, there's the fact that there's a rising interest in Newmar motorhomes and a fixed number that will be manufactured this year. And, Newmar already has dealer commitments on its entire production run, so only dealers that ordered large quantities early on will have a lot of units available. A tight inventory keeps prices up.
Near the end of the model year, dealers with a sizable stock of current-year models will start offering bigger discounts on selected units as Newmar begins offering them some incentives. Those can be good deals if they fit what you are looking for.
Personally, I think the days of 30% discounts are pretty much gone and that 25% is looking like the new ceiling. Glad we bought when we did; got just over 28% discount on an ordered MADP.

When we ordered our second DSDP we got 27% off, but that was in '02 and we traded our '00 DSDP in on it.

Have you considered a new 2018? I'm sure there's inventory out there that dealers would love to move and would probably be aggressive with pricing.

Yes, there are some good deals to be had on the remaining 2018s and, some features you won't find in the 2019s. For instance, the 2018 Spartan chassis has disc brakes all around, the 2019s have drums in the rear. Some nice 2018 color choices have disappeared (like Niagra, though there is a modified version in some 2019s).
Neal makes a good point on the "aggressive pricing" for holdover '18s. Take a look; you may find something that you really like.

2018 DS have only 2 axles with disc brakes and 2017 I think had all 3. Now only 1 axle and a $3500 up charge!

If you want a better price you are going to have to shop it around and not be afraid to let each dealer know you are shopping. I sent request in for guotes on a 2019 Ventana 4369 to 6 or 7 dealerships. The first round came back and then I took the lowest quote and went around to all of them to see if they could do better than my best quote. Some dropped out but one beat it by almost 1%. To be fair I then let the first round best quote dealership see if they could compete with the new lowest quote. They could not. In the end I wound up 29.6% off MSRP.

I guess the K2 chassis and the K3 are different; our 2018 definitely has disc brakes on all axles, including the yag. I just went out and looked to be sure.
It is my understanding that the 2019 K3 will have drum brakes on the drive axle. I can't verify that because I haven't personally checked a 2019.

19' K-3 specs indicate disc on all three axles, same as 2018

You would think but that's not the case for two friends looking to buy 2018 Dutch Stars. Their discounts were in the low 20s%. These dealers are feeling like if they have it in stock, and you don't have to wait for it, they are sitting on gold.

This is our first coach. I shopped five dealerships sincerely and direct. We were buying a coach, who wanted the money? I found three dealerships' (one very close, two very far sales managers unwilling to negotiate. (hostage negotiator in a previous life). Actually uncovered/discovered what appeared to be collusion between two of them. Stopped shopping and took a month break from the madness.
In late June, I contacted two other dealerships. Both were willing to meet price points. We were able to get 28% after making initial contact with the final dealership and we bought from them. No fuss, no muss. My experience? You owe it to yourself to shop around and don't give up, you'll find the right dealership.
