Rather than posting three different issues, I figured I would bunch them all together.
1) My front a/c would not work at the last of three campgrounds I stayed in this past week. It would work fine when I turned the generator on. My uneducated guess is that the campground 50 amp service had a problem on one leg causing the problem. If I am correct in this guess, would the front unit be the one to not operate? I did try to turn the rear a/c off and run the front, but that made no difference.
2) Yesterday, after arriving home, We had a pretty good rain shower and my wife noticed water leaking from the rooftop antenna controller onto the passenger seat. I went up on the roof and couldn't see any obvious leaks, but I did reseal the area anyway. The water appears ro be coming in through the shaft from the crank to the antenna. Does anyone have any history or advice on this issue? I don't know if there is some sort of seal in there that could be worn or torn etc..
3) The chrome on my driver's side mirror housing is turning white in spots. It doesn't appear to be delaminating, it's just losing the chrome appearance. It is still smooth like the rest of the chrome. Has anyone had this concern or does anyone know the name of the manufacturer so that I can contact them?
Thanks in advance and sorry to ramble.
Keith

It's possible you may have had 50amp problems on one leg.
Each AC is on a different leg, so either AC could be affected depending on which leg was bad.
However, there are other things that should have been affected if one leg was bad, and you should have noticed other problems as well.
Your mirrors are probably made by Ramco. Velvac is the other major manufacturer. You should have documentation on the mirrors in the Newmar case.

Hi Keith,
1. Without having each leg monitored it is difficult to tell about the CG electric. I have a monitor on each power leg. Also, I have a Surge Guard device. Can you begin to monitor each, power leg? If you don't have a meter, consider getting one. Both of these recommendations are so if this happens again, you'll be able to beging the diagnostics at the time of the failure. This is a sure way to trace the problem.
2. Do not overlook the top front running lights. I know it would seem if water comes through these lights, in the front of the cap it would find its' way to the front dash. However, this would not be the first time resealing the front runing lights solved a water leak in the cockpit area.
3. I have no experience with this problem.

Keith, Single leg cheating 50 amp is more common than thought. Jellystone park in Frankinmuth, Mi. had a large section that was so a couple of years back. It may, in fact, still be that way. They aren't the only one that do that either.

Hi! We had water coming in our 07 MADP in the same area. One of our air horns needed to be resealed. I would check your air horns also besides the lights. Paul

Update on all 3 of my concerns:
1) the front a/c is fine. It was definately a campground problm. I have been camping twice since and all is well.
2) I resealed the mounting screws for the antenna and one small nick in the sealing tape where the roof meets the front cap. I have been through a couple of severe storms since then and all is well. Note: I am still a little leary on this repair.
3) After a couple of you fine folks helped me out with the name of the mirror manufacturer(Ramco), I contacted them. They asked for pictures and are now sending me a new mirror head at no charge. That is customer service after the sale. Kudo's to Matt at Ramco.

Make sure you have a good surge suppressor that will tell you the status of both legs. This time the problem was not enough juice on 1 leg. Next time it might fry your air conditioner.

Keith:
I had the exact same problem with my TV antenna leaking through the shaft. The Winegard rep took off the inside crank handle and just snugged the nylon nut up on the shaft and I have never had the problem since. You need a special long hollow socket to reach up in there. It needs to be snugged tight but still loose enough to turn the antenna.
I totally agree with the surge guard/analyzer being installed like the Progressive Industries model. It has saved me several times, including very high voltage while at Camp Newmar!
Good Luck

Keith,
You might also want to check your 50A plug. Just unscrew the top and make sure that the connections are tight on all four wires. Mine got a little loose on one of the hot legs and caused a similar problem. I swore it was a pedestal problem until I found out otherwise.

Man 'O Man! I learn so very much from this site!! I haven't had his exact problems, but every time I read the solutions/options I learn stuff I need to know. Great reason for just reading through the posts on iRV2.com Thanks to all of you for your expertise and willingness to share it with us "dummies."
