4" aero turbine xl muffler
I have read posts as to the aero turbine mufflers. i am thinking of installing one but i have not read if anyone that has installed one would do it again or if they would of stayed with the original muffler. what is the noise level difference, and what does it sound like when the pac brake is used. mine now has a high pitched whistle noise when the brake is on ( side window open by drivers seat to listen). I have read that the performance picked up and mpg, is this correct?

I posted on the Alpine Coach site about our experience with the install and performance.

Hi palehorse89,
I had the AREO muffler installed on my coach. Ir is a bit louder than the stock muffler. I have not noticed any difference with the exhaust brake on. I notice it more on roads with a concrete barrier to the left of the #1 travel lane. My exhaust is at the rear left of the coach.
A side benefit is drivers of autos no longer hang around my rear bumper on a multi lane highway. Once they pass the toad and get to the rear of the coach, it takes a second or two and they pass me very quickly.

Hello Palehorse89,
I recently installed the Aero XL on my 2002 DSDP 350 ISC, and it sounds just fine. I have not noticed much of a difference, doesn't seem any louder to me, maybe just a slight difference in tone a little lower.

Just bought my 5050XL and will install it tomorrow. If it performs as good as it looks I'll be happy.

After reading several reviews on the Aero muffler, I placed my order last week for the AT4040XL to put on my '03 DSDP. Should have it before next weekend to get it installed. One note, I also had the Banks Power Pak installed last summer. I'm anxious to see if there'll be a noticeable difference.

Installed my 4040XL Aero muffler on Saturday. Only drove a short distance back home, but did notice a difference in pickup from a dead stop. I didn't notice any more or louder noise over the stock muffler, just a deeper tone.

Great Idea!! I just disconnected the air lines to my rear air bags. Now I've got a real 50's bumper dragger. Got my Lucky's rolled up in my sleeve and my DA is slicked back. COOL, MAN

Took my Aero 5050XL out for a ride today. IT'S LOUD ! Maybe because its a 4 inch out of the turbo and goes up to 5 inch for the muffler and tail pipe. I couldn't feel any extra power using my butt dyno and I have not gone far enough to see how it does with the fuel mileage but I can tell you for sure, there is NO back pressure in this system !!

When you say loud....is it to loud? Is it any louder inside while driving compaired to stock muffler? Are you happy with your muffler change? Thanks...

Let me put it this way, I'm not going to throw out my old stock muffler yet. Not until I have more cruising miles. It does seem to drone a bit more in the drivers area. I'll see if the fuel mileage improves and see if I can feel any more power when I get the toad on the back. Although I have never had a problem with power. What I did want was to lower my exhaust temps and see if I could pick up some fuel mileage. The jury is still out on that part until I take a longer trip.
I realize I haven't given much of an answer. I will add that if my wife say it's too loud up front, it's outta here !! We have a trip planned over new years. Then I will have a better answer.
