43' Ventana without the "All Electric" option - What uses LP?
We are looking to order a 2018 Ventana 4369 and trying to decide about the All-Electric option.
If we don't do All-Electric, we can still opt for the larger residental refrigurator with 2 extra batteries and bigger inverter.
My question is: What all is the LP used for?
Obviously for the gas cooktop but what else?
The 43 foot models have hydronic heat and water which presumably uses diesel but I'm not sure.
Anybody with a 43 foot Ventana know for sure?
Thanks,
Dan

Cooktop, oven, water heater, furnace, dometic cycle fridge...are the usual suspects.
Oasis was an upgrade in 2016...
Oasis heats a transfer solution. It is heated by a Diesel burner...and/or the option to use one or both electric elements. It is also heated by thd engine while driving. Oasis is used for heating, and hot water. With additional plumbing, it can be used to preheat the engine.
I can't imagine getting both Propane and Oasis... We went all-electric...
8 batteries, residential fridge, Oasis (heat and hot water)induction cooktop, convection/microwave.

I have the LP option with a residential frig so the only things that use LP are the Furnace, stove and water heater (when not on shore power). I've never run out of hot water for showers. The oasis takes up quite a bit of basement space and requires annual maintenance. Unless you plan to run the furnace a lot I don't think it's worth the cost and loss of space.

My 2014 Dutch Star was not all electric. The only item that used propane was the cooktop. It had a huge tank, the size of a 50 gallon drum just behind the driver's front wheel. I converted the cooktop to a True Induction model and cut out the propane tank and converted the space to another sealed storage bay.
So yes.....it only supplies the cooktop.

Yes, cooktop only for us in our 2015 DSDP. We prefer it. That tank will last us five years before we have to refill it.

We have the Oasis system and LP for our cook top and refrigerator. While all electric is becoming very popular, we like the flexibility to run our fridge on LP. We are now planning a trip to Nova Scotia this Fall and many campgrounds do not offer electric and if they do, only 30 amps..

Unless you are going to spend a lot of time in cold weather, I wouldn't want the Oasis/ Aqua hot. Just the annual maintenance is $ 250 minimum. ( that will buy a lot of LP ) And over time there are lots of things to replace, that aren't cheap. Knew a guy who sold a nice Phaeton, after 4 years of high dollar repairs on his Aqua Hot.

Correct me if I'm wrong, the 2018 Dutch Star and Ventana comes standard with Oasis?

Ok that may be true, I was only looking at 4369 in both

For boondockers...having LP system is probably a money saver. Going off grid with all-electric takes a sizeable investment in solar...and annual/biennial service on the Oasis, more battery life cycle costs.
LP requires filling the tank as needed...fewer batteries...smaller solar array to maintain fewer batteries.
Having said all that...just as an individual preference...we went all-electric and added 1,440 watts of solar... We are looking forward to cool weather to go learn the systems limitations. For one...I'd like to know how much DC power is required to run an Oasis Forced Air system vs an LP Furnace overnight... Would be nice to rally in January with an LP furnace equipped 40ft Newmar next to us with a BMK installed to compare our battery drains overnight. Okay....I'm guilty of a bit if geekiness when it comes to Coach System performance.

On our 3710 Canyon Star I can remember some precarious LP filling stations especially the ones at RV parks and gas stations, the ones with those invisible iron polls surrounding them. That being said I would have considered it again, but it's not a DS option

Thanks everyone for their input.
I have a follow up question: With the All-Electric option, how practical is cooking on batteries (i.e. boondocking) with the induction cooktop and/or microwave?
Thanks,
Dan
