4320 Dutchstar Fridge and Couch Conversion

Hi all -

We started full timing two weeks ago and have decided to make some modifications to the coach before we hit the road in June.

We have a 2006 Dutchstar 4320 with a Norcold four door fridge, a jack knife coach, and a half couch across from the jack knife. We'd like to convert to a residential fridge, replace the half couch with a built in TV hutch/desk, and replace the jack knife with two recliners. We plan to eliminate the TV over the cockpit once the new TV has been installed.

Does anyone have experience with any of these type of conversions in a 4320? If so, what fridge or furniture did you use? Any size limitations? How do you handle travel and dry camping with a residential? Would love to hear about your solutions in making your rig more liveable. Thanks!!

No experience with Newmar. On our 5er we replaced the jack knife with a LazBoy dual reclining love seat. I imagine that you can find a couple LB to fit the same space.

Recommend you measure the width of the existing couch and head over to a store and see what will fit. We like the LaZBoy but I am sure there are other brands that would be just as good.

Our coach has a residential and we find no problems with overnighting on the inverter.

In QT's # 3 there are threads dealing with coach make remodeling, Interior Redo section and here is information on what you can possibly do with your fridge.
If your a DIY'er you can save some money.
This outfit will build cabinet for LCD to your spec's.

Hi Christy,

I'm a new solo full timer in a DSDP 4023. I fell in love with the DS's due to the neat little desk that some have but ended up buying one that didn't have it. I work full time (computer) so I removed the jackknife (passenger side) and made my own desk. I REALLY love the custom desks that others have had made but I couldn't afford that. So, I used a set of drawer cabinets and a glued aspen panel (stained and lacquered) for the top. It is bolted down and not going anywhere (including the monitor - I leave it right there while driving). It does not match the rest of the cabinets so someday an upgrade may be in order but, for now, it does the job, provides lots of additional storage, and cost very little.

I have done all the mods you talked about 3 years ago. You will get lots of opinions on the fridge out suggesting a RF 197 counter depth I personally installed a LG bottom freezer 20 CF. It's all about dimensions you need. We also removed the couch and installed recliners. I did remove the front Tv and turned the space in to a cabinet. The only tricky part was finding a cabinet make to make a door front to match the existing. Good luck
