Question 6 days dry camping- how long to dumping tanks

Got really sick while dry camping. Thank God i was only 2 hours away. That night had some bad stuff happen when we got home. Wife called the ambulance and spent the night at the hospital. Im home now, but havent dumped my tanks. Still feeling crappy. How long can i go befoe i have a problem?

Cant believe we made it 6 days! The longest weve gone.

Hi Maddawg46,
I can only pass on my limited experience. I have a Spring and Fall situation where we use the coach 2-3 days on weekends parked with no hookups leaving the coach parked there while we are not using it during the week. Sets in that parked position for 3 weeks usually. By the 3rd weekend black tank is very full. When we then move the motorhome I usually drive directly to sanitary station not too far from our stick built dwelling.
I have not had any problems (so far) emptying the tanks.
I'm sure what goes in the tank will be a factor; more liquid than solids would be a positive.
Best of luck.
I hope your recoveries are short and quick!

In cold weather I think you will be fine for another week or more, if possible have someone dump some more chemicals in the tank make sure the toilet/toilets have water in them.. feel better

I've left "stuff" in my black and grey tanks for months in the summer heat. Just make sure you have some kind of tank additive in them. Never had an odor problem.

Congratulations on your 6 days of dry camping. It is empowering to learn just how long you can go off the grid. As long as the weather is cold, but not freezing, or hot but not sweltering, you could store it for days. Weeks might be okay. Months? Maybe not so much. Hope that you get feeling better soon.

We've gone seven days with no problems and could have gone longer.

Solids in the tankes awa

Thanks for the input. It was a 2 hour drive home. The dump is about 5 mi away. Heard if it sits too long the solids can settle and plug things up.

Interesting, I had read that it's better to let it sit at least a week (if not longer) with chemicals to give time for solids to break down and that dumping every couple days wasn't ideal.

I'm a newbie, so now I'm not sure which is accurate.

After a two hour drive home I doubt that there is much left in the way of solids. It's probably pretty much liquefied. The sloshing while driving will break up the solids as long as you had enough water in the tank.

It will be ok for weeks, months... Dump some more chemical and water in the tanks if you want.
