90 Days and Time to Clean AC/heating Filters

With our new 18 London Aire we have now spent about 90 days traveling in it so today was the day to clean ceiling air filter. All 3 of our Newmar's have had the same ceiling air filter for AC/heating system. What we have learned is after about 90 days of using the coach it's time to remove vent covers and clean air filters so our system works better with clean filters. The LA is harder to do because we have to bring down the ceiling center cover to get air filter covers off. What we did was buy an extra set of filters so when we take down the filter covers we can replace them with the extra set so we can put it back together right away. Then we clean the air filters we toke down and then dry them so they can be put away for the next time we need to put clean air filters in. If you haven't done yours in a long time you will be surprised how dirty they are and how much better your AC/Heating will work with clean return line filters. One more point and that we found that by twisting the cover as you pull it down makes it easier to take and less chance of breaking the ears off the vent cover. Save travels this summer.

I am at the factory right now and was thinking of buying a spare set for the same reason. Can just replace the dirty with clean and wash the old ones at my leisure.

Yes Bill the parts store will have the filters. On our 45 ft. coaches we needed 11 filters should be less for shorter coaches. The filters are about a dollar a piece. We are also here at the factory and are right across from you in the London Aire.

My next project is to replace the filters in the 3 ceiling center covers areas with an external filter by adding larger filters and attaching them with magnets (magnet tap to the ceiling and then magnets on the other side of the filter).

Does the La have the same round ac filters under the wood cover?

The 2018+ dsdp has long rectangular vents and filters and is much simpler than the older round vent style.

The LA does have the same round filters as both the previous Essex and before that LA. Some Newmar owners have cut their owner ceiling air filter which is also a option. We just found it was easier to replace filters when changing them with another set that had already cleaned and dried. The LA would have two big ceiling covers hanging down until the air filter were washed and dried. Newmar parts have both the round air filters for about a dollar a piece and the new style that DS have which Redbaron73 mentioned. Should check which filters you have before ordering replacement filter or ask Newmar which ones you have and then order those.
